Saw both a Matisse exhibit and a Dream Cars exhibit there. I live near the the museum so it is convenient to visit. The best part is the first Thursday of each month is free admission including the special exhibits.

This museum exceeded my and my partner's expectations. Very well curated with exquisite gardens to match. Your really need at least half a day to get through. Don't miss the Lilly house (former Pharmaceutical magnate's residence) with a great silverware collection. Note the Turtle soup bowl - not sure how many great Turtles loss their lives going in there...:(.. Shows... More

We were blown away at the size of the collection this museum has. Specifically we wanted to see Gustav Baumann. The artist who had a background in printing. There were dozens of pieces to look at, as well as some works of Georga O'Keefe. The cost is usually $18 per adult, however there was a special the day we went... More

The Indianapolis Museum of Art is world class but the grounds and area surrounding it make it spectacular. Set in a beautifully preserved, wooded corner of Indianapolis, the gardens resemble a slice of Paris reminiscent of the Bois de Boulogne. The Lily House is an exquisite early 1900's manor which is open for tours and features beautiful architectural gardens. The... More

We went to the museum to see the Eli Lilly house and were impressed with all the museum has to offer. One could easily spend all afternoon at the museum, especially if the weather is good for exploring the gardens. In addition to the art exhibits in the main building, there's a greenhouse, gardens and walking paths, and the Eli... More

We went to IMA to see the Gustave Baumann exhibit currently on display. The art is beautifully displayed and comprehensive. The rest of the collection is very good, especially for Indiana artists. It also has a wonderful 20th century design gallery. Good cafeteria as well.

We took an Uber ride out of downtown five miles. Spent two hours walking the museum and had a light lunch in their cafe. The permanent collection has a lot of room for interesting presentations of less well known works by major artists. There were good special exhibits and, on a nice day, a very pleasant sculpture presentation around the... More

Spent 3 hours in the museum, wish we had more time to see the outdoor areas. The 2nd floor of the museum was very enjoyable as I prefer American and European artwork.
