Great place for sightseeing especially for the active. As a frequent user I Do NOT recommend taking young children on the trail as large uneven steps that can be slippery and dangerous let alone exhausting Also watch out for leaches in the wetter weather and wasps...More

I loved this. I really wanted to make it to the top of the 100 steps (make sure you take the 1000 step trail (not the fitness steps). The Rambler Track takes you to the base of the steps along an easy trail, or you...More

I have just started doing the 1000 steps again after not visiting for many years. It is well signposted and well organised with toilets and a cafe at the bottom, drinking fountains dotted around the park and more drinking fountains at the top of the...More

The purpose of this trail is not to get to the top in the quickest time, it's to understand what others had to endure for their country. As you climb the steps, there's stories along the way, take the time to read them, the story...More

My mother my two kids (7 at the time and 10 months in a carrier) and I enjoyed doing the 1000 steps. The air was fresh and it was satisfying to get to the top. We even met some people on our walk and shared...More

A great walk with nearby eateries either a drive away or short walk to the 1000 step cafe. Bring comfortable shoes and also be mindful that it is much cooler, so a jumper may be required. BBQ facilities available with a children's playground.

I love heading out to this walk when I feel like getting away from the city. Only about a half hour drive and the forest in the Dandenongs is beautiful. The only downside is that often it feels like half of Melbourne also like doing...More

Its been said before, but i'll say it again: Be prepared to sweat! A round trip, there and back, for a novice is about 1 hour. Wear good shoes, I recommend walking boots, but some of crazy peeps do it in runners (but those nutters...More

I finally made it here after years of saying ‘we must walk the 1000 steps Kokoda Trail’! I had no expectations except that I would walk ‘1000 steps’ ( I actually read there are only about 700 steps though). It felt good ticking this one...More
