We went on a rather quiet day and got the tour. It was amazing! Our hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable, and took us through the tour. The presentation was beautifully made and took us through the most important episodes in Anabaptist history. We wanted to learn everything we could and took our time through the exhibits, and stayed until... More

My kids were 1 and 3 when we visited last spring. However, they do enjoy tour and all the staffs are so friendly.

For basically a museum about farming communities knit around their Christian faith, this museum did so in a Disney-esque manner of immersion experiences. There are ambient sound effects, wind (during tornado shelter in place) effects, and every attempt to make the room/ship/office/kitchen/etc historically complete and convincing. This is not a static hall of glass cases. At some point, I thought,... More

I took my college age kids to here to help out with a history project. All of us found the history and the displays very informative and interesting. There were several other families in with us, and their younger kids just were not impressed, not enough interactive displays geared to the younger generations. My take is that if you are... More

They offer a fantastic history of how the Anabaptists started, how they split, and how they are different today. It is a worthwhile visit.

If you love history and want to learn about the Amish culture, this is a must visit. It was very informative with multimedia presentations as well as many displays. The docent was a charming older man who seemed genuinely interested in sharing his knowledge with visitors.

Having read the reviews, we had high expectations about this place. We are both interested in history and, having spent a few days in Shipshewana, had many questions about the cultures and practices of the different religions represented. Unfortunately, this tour was heavy on religious history and we aren't nearly as interested in how the different divisions came about five... More

We loved the hands-on items, such as being able to try on hats, jackets, and shawls. I loved seeing the "inside" of an Amish kitchen.

Excellent and interest presentations of the history of the Amish, Mennonite and Hutterites, we learned a lot about the birth of Anabaptist in Europe and their persecution, which lead them to flee . So many facts we had not known and learning the difference between the sects was very well presented,
