House is open for tours April through November by reservation only. We do not have regular tour times, so they are not posted anywhere. The best way to get the tour information and schedule is to email us and the information will be sent to you. House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the John Christian family in 1954 and is located in West Lafayette, Indiana. It is one of the most complete of Wright's designs and represents a pristine example of his Usonian architecture. SAMARA is strictly maintained to the exacting standards set by Mr. Wright. SAMARA contains refinements of over forty innovations by this world famous architect, yet is unique in that it was specifically designed for Dr. Christian and his wife, Catherine, and their daughter, Linda. Adults $10, college students $3, children under 17 are free. Tours last about 1.5 hours.

Interesting to visit repeatedly

No regular hours so need to check on line schedule for tours. Very interesting history of family who lived there and their relationship with Frank Lloyd Wright.

This review is written well after the visit - so may be short on specifics. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Samara. It feels the most "home-like" of any of he FLW places we've visited - perhaps because the original owner had occupied it until his death the previous year. So personal items - books, etc.- were still on... More

Lovely example of renowned architect's Frank Lloyd Wright, owned comtinuously by the same family (Purdue professor) since it was first contracted to be built in the 50s. Original furniture and decor. Add to your list if you are a FLW fan!

Of all the Wright Usonians that are open to the public, this is my favorite. The minute you walk in, you want to sit down and stay forever. If you're anywhere within a day's drive of West Lafayette, see it. You do need reservations so plan ahead.

Learning the story behind the building of this Frank Lloyd House was fascinating. The house still has almost all of the original furniture and kitchen. It is amazing how much detail went into the structure AND the furnishings. It is a can't miss! I plan on returning.

If you like his work you will enjoy visiting this home. Tour was excellent. Got a sence of Weight's controlling personality. Enjoyed the narration for the tour.

Touring Frank Lloyd Wright's Samara House in West Lafayette, Indiana is easily worth the $10 cost ($3 students; under 17 free). This home is an incredible gem representing the best of Wright's Usonian architectural style from late in his career. Natural elements are integrated and represented in motifs throughout, while light and shadows play everywhere. Though adjacent to the Purdue... More

This 1950s "Usonian" home by Frank Lloyd Wright has been carefully maintained by the original owner who worked directly with Wright on the design. It's in a secluded residential area, not visible from the street. But a tour will reveal this as a jewel of modernist detail.

The house is very different than modern homes in the 2000's. The large common area reminded me of the great room concepts of today. However, the kitchen was very small and contained and the hallways got more narrow as you approached the bedrooms. As a short person, I could reach up and touch the ceilings. I liked the amount of...
