Took my grandmother and aunt here. It was a special craft day. Beautiful with horse and carriage rides. The museum is elegant and well done. A little small, but nice.

Some good exhibits to remind everyone of the cost of freedoms and an impressive history of the building in its own right

If you are in Cedar Rapids Iowa or even close, this is a must see museum. The building is beautiful. They have a very interesting permanent exhibit and always have one or two temporary exhibits. Be sure to allow plenty of time!

Although I lived in Cedar Rapids for 40+ years, I only visited the Czech & Slovak Museum recently. I was blown away by the displays and rich history. I learned of the many contributions Czechs and Slovaks made to US and world history. This museum is a must see!

I am of Eastern European heritage; my four grandparents immigrated from Yugoslavia to the U.S. In the 1920's. The museum presents a good overview, specifically of the Czech and Slovak cultures- but the exhibits can be generalized to the efforts of most Eastern European immigrants. The museum gave me a sense of the sacrifices all immigrants make in their various... More

Provided much more history and beauty than we every knew about. We were amazed not only by the historical facts, but by the collection of artifacts.

Had an opportunity to visit again while attending a community event and always find it a pleasant experience. They always have interesting exhibits and show how Czechs have influenced this community.

You don't have to be a Czech or Slovak to enjoy this museum. Great exhibits and a wonderful gift shop with items you won't find anywhere else (well, maybe in the Czech or Slovak Republics). They also host Brewnost, a charitable event with great food, wine and especially beer. It is the social event of the year in Cedar Rapids.... More

Background: On a trip from Vermont to the Mid West, we heard about the National Czech and Slovak Museum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Having a friend from Slovakia, we thought we'd make a slight detour and visit the museum. Verdict: We were pressed for time so after parking in the free underground garage, we visited the gift shop. Wow! Lots... More

If you want to learn more about Czech immigrants to the area this is a nice place to visit. Be prepared to do your own research in the library. They had a very good gift shop with lots of selection.
