Went to Sundown Mountain (Hill) with friends and had a fun time. Easy to get to with no traffic and hardly anyone skiing at night which felt like we owned the hill. The new ticket building is very clean and the bar afterwards was booming like a resort out west.

What a surprise this place was. A fun and friendly place with better skiing than I had imagined. Based on the trail map, thought this would be a wide open slope but it was not. Interesting runs, longer than many Midwest resorts, and cheap. $30 on a Thursday. Historical note, Lange invented the plastic ski boot in Dubuque where this... More

This is one of those that needs to be reviewed within its genre. One cannot compare it to a major resort, simply not in the same league. As a regional ski spot it has a lot going for it, a good number of runs, reasonable steepness considering the locale and a nice homey feel. The amenities are fairly basic, no... More

This was my second time and we decided to get another lesson because we felt like we needed it. Our instructor, Dale, was amazing!!! He tought us many useful tips and even though I brought him down with me some of the times I fell, he was happy I was trying my best. We had an amazing time!

This was our kids first time skiing. We bought a Groupon and sign them up for a lesson and keys. The instructors were very friendly and helpful. We were then able to convert the pass to a all lift pass for the kids for a small fee. They had a great time. We did have lunch on site. It is... More

Took my 9 year old for his first time snowboarding and my first time skiing in a long time. We got the beginner package via Groupon. Our instructors were patient and very helpful. Lessons lasted 90 minutes and worked in fundamentals. Having a chair lift on the beginning hill is also great practice.

Sundown Mountain is a wonderful place to learn to ski. I had always wanted to learn to downhill ski and had an opportunity to go take my very first ski lesson. My ski instructor was Chuck Whalen and I would highly recommend him. He was patient, calm, very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job in helping understand what I needed... More

Compared to other similar sized ski/snowboard hills this is great. Good man made snow - not icy. Friendly staff that does a good job keeping it a fun environment - you didn't have a bunch of kids making fun of people who fall or swearing and smoking on the hill. The black diamonds are more like blues in my opinion... More

If your an inexperienced skier I recommend coming here before investing in a trip to Colorado, I wish I had. Our son hadn't skied before and took a full day lesson in the kid zone. Tony was amazing and had him skiing down the full runs by the end of the day. They had a true beginner slope to learn... More

Sundown mountain is a great place to learn to ski and also practice skiing for the more experienced skier. The staff of instructors are all very friendly and knowledgeable. We take a group there every year and are always treated so well. Everyone that attends learns a little something different to improve their skiing abilities.
