Hiked several trails of various lengths and difficulty. Beautiful area. Well maintained trails. Mostly grass paths. There is a paved path near the interpretive center that is partly handicap accessible and features information about various local tree species. Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful park There are all kinds of trail (some easier than others) and is extremely photogenic! There is no where in this park that you won't get great pictures. Enjoy the beauty!

The canyon in this park is breathtakingly gorgeous, in part because it's unexpected. Climb up to the overlook to see the river, and drive to the Julien Dubuque Monument for some Dubuque history and a closer view of the city.

Great park along the Mississippi with great views! Don't miss the Horseshoe bluff area (the Grand Canyon of Dubuque), it is amazing!! Beautiful park!!

Lots of trails to explore and a good visitor center which explains the history of the area. Don't miss the bird watching area in the back of the visitor center.

Visited interpretive center. Relatively small but presented well about the area. Exhibits includes animals, birds, indians, original family farms, and lead mining. Gift shop area. Donations. The park hours are uncertain, because we rely on volunteers and can not get adequate funding from the State of Iowa. We do have outside cooking facilities through out the park but I do not know if barbecue is referring to a... More
