In a beautiful day of August we started our trip coming again after many years to visit again this jewel of Romanian architecture. It was built in the 15th century, and it is an example of medieval Moldavian architecture. A jewel of 15th-century architecture, the church was built during the reign of Stephen III of Moldavia (1457–1504) and finished in the year when the Moldavian army won the battle against King John I Albert of Poland (1497). The remarkable paintings and valuable books and manuscripts, the old and famous library make this place a great objectif to visit. I recommend stronlgy do not miss it!

This is an old monastery and a very nice one to visit. There are so many paintings inside. The bathroom is horibble, better not visiting it.

This is a good example of how well Romanian traditions are preserved . If you want to observe a piece of authentic art, i reccomend visiting this place. It is peaceful, full of history and you can always find here a friendly face to talk to.

The original monastery is beautiful. Everything built around it is lack lustre and just a part of a working, for-profit, monastery. There is a small chapel in the back near the graveyard that has a bunch of skulls in the basement. It was the most unique part of the visit.

If you only have time to see one monastery in the area, this one is it. Also, if you have survived both Varatec and Agapia Monasteries you should still visit this one. Neamt felt special. The church in the centre of the complex has the most beautiful interior - dark, mysterious, covered in frescoes. The place feels at peace with the world. Take your time and rest a while here before you move on to your next adventure.

The idea to go visit this place was the best idea from my girlfriend. Interesting monastery.....nice monks. The monk in the gate was doing small innocent jokes and the monk in the souvenir shop was speaking Danish, German, English.....a rare type of intelligence and humbling attitude. He tried to convince me to become orthodox and he was also funny about it.
The church inside was old and full of holes. the old paintings and the little light coming from the up windows makes this church look dramatic and another type of holiness.
The souvenir shop was dusty ....the Saint pictures and objects makes you spend time inside just admiring them.
It worth seeking this place and putting it in your tour throw the Neamt area.

You won't find the flowers that you find at Agapia or Varatec where the nuns rule, but you will find here the biggest monk place in the country and the oldest monastery in Moldova I think. The place is very peaceful and full of Romanian history artefacts. Visit the museum too, as you enter through the gate on the right.

I discovered, after years of traveling in Moldavia, this quite, spiritual and beautiful monastery. It is a very old building, with a big history and spiritual heritage.

This is a highly significant religious complex in Romania and was built by Stephen 111 in the 15th Century. It is considered a jewel of 15th century Moldavian architecture. You enter the complex through a small bell tower that has some original paintings on the walls and roof has a neat "all seeing eye" on the inside. When you walk through the entrance tunnel you immediately see the Church of the Ascension on you left hand side. The outside is quite plain with a brick facade with an unusual roof - some of the bricks are glazed and some of the windows have circular tiles above the windows.
As expected the inside of the church and the altar are all highly decorated - and quite amazing.
Definitely worth a visit.

An amazing historical bulding, the foundations of Neamt Monastery have been laid since the fourteenth century. It is a great place for pray and meditation, once you visited the interesting museum.
For the complete experience I reccomend the guided tour, you can find out the legends and the stories of the place. The monks are kind and friendly.
