Truly a unique piece of history when you read about the Mormons moving west with the use of handcarts. The path is paved and handicapped accessible. The trail is not very long - only about a half mile but it is a hilly venture - especially if you are pushing a wheelchair or stroller.

This is an interesting site, where you can read about the Mormon Handcart's trials on their travels across the U.S. The trail is quite wooded, hilly, but paved.

What a choice place for a memorial telling of dedicated people just wanting to exercise their faith in God.

There is not really much to this site. It is unremarkable in every other aspect. This is more of a municipal park than a historic site.

I have been enjoying my personal treks to this site. It is approximately 1.5 miles from the trailhead. It's a beautiful walk.

Ever wonder why the street is called Mormon Trek? The answer is at this pretty spot along the Clear Creek Trail. In the path of ragged, frightened utopians we walk our dogs...

We were staying south of Kalona & wanted some place to take the dogs for exercise. This fit the bill for all of us, paved walking path, nature & a good distance for exercising.

There's parking, never a crowd, and a pleasant paved path through the woods. The path goes past the university's cross country course, which is a pleasant and quiet green space. Oh yeah, there are also a couple of historical markers to indicate where groups of Mormon immigrants from England camped, after getting off the train at the end of the... More

While sitting in our hotel room, my mother came across this trail. The trail is not that long, but it is still nice. The nature in the area is pretty and there are plenty of signs to show you the importance of the little trail. If you are Mormon, this trail may have some significance to you.
