For $4 a vehicle, you can watch the bird migration in the comfort of heated (or air conditioned) facilities. There is a preserved paddle wheel boat that sank on the Missouri River before it was dammed and channelized. It's a GREAT slice of history that many may not even know exists here!

Great place to stop and relax, view the wildlife-we saw 12 turtles sunning themselves on logs and rocks, a contingent of White Pelican migrating and swimming in the lake. The museum for the Bertrand Paddle Wheeler that struck a snag and sunk is outstanding! A super collection of artifacts recovered from the excavation and the wreck. Great place to take... More

If I lived closer, I would be a regular visitor to DeSoto NRW. The visitor center has many interesting exhibits and an awesome indoor viewing center. The trail system is great, and nature is Always lovely. Day pass is only $3.00.

A lovely afternoon enjoying the sights of Desoto Wildlife Refuge. We were hoping to see eagles, but there were none visible this trip. However, in viewing area overlooking the water had an abundance of ducks and some swans. We even saw a possum at a feeder! Also, included is the Bertrand museum. A steam ship going to the gold fields of... More

My wife and I have been taking our children and now our grandchildren to the Desoto National Wildlife Refuge since the visitors' center opened. We have seen eagles, hundreds of thousand snow geese as they migrated south for the winter, deer, coyotes, ducks, and lots of birds on our visits. The visitors' center is a year 'round treasure, for it... More

So beautiful.......you pay 3$ per vehicle to get in and can explore by driving or hiking around. When I went there were fish literally jumping out of the water all around. Also!!! Don't wash your car right before you go. There is white gravel roads and the dust gets everywhere!!

At three dollars a person for the entry fee, it was a great bargain to drive, hike, and tour the substantial grounds and view the wildlife -- deer, ducks, cranes, turtles, sharks (no sharks, just kidding), and birds. The visitor center was way better than typical for a park of this kind. Very interesting and informative. A very pleasant stop... More

This "must-see" refuge is an outstanding resource that attracts wildlife lovers and history buffs. The visitor center is a very impressive facility with amazing and informative exhibits, as well as viewing areas to observe the birds and other wildlife. The displays of artifacts from the sunken sternwheeler Bertrand are incredible. The indoor viewing area features large windows and spacious tiered... More
