Visited here the gardens which were absolutely stunning and well kept- very magical. The priory is very moving to. This has a free small car park and is off the main road a bit- take care on the roads as people travel very fast round...More

Pleasant gardens and a small view into the history of Scotland with old ruins and headstones. A pleasant short walk through small gardens and a historical site on a fair day.

Ardchattan Priory Garden is approximately 5 miles down a single track road. Unfortunately we visited late one afternoon and so were not able to visit the whole of the gardens. The Priory part is very interesting with good interpretive boards. We only managed to visit the...More

Fascinating ruins of the old Abbey, old cemetery, carved stones and Celtic Cross. It is also in a great location with lovely views. Well worth taking a detour off the main road near Connel.

This historic garden makes a very interesting visit. The views from the lawn over the loch are stunning. The garden has several different areas and then you can explore the remains of the old priory. There is an honesty box for your entrance fee.

We personally enjoyed Ardchattan Priory more than Dunollie Castle, as far as MacDougall sites go (though to be fair, Dunollie was undergoing conservation work when we visited, so the castle itself was not open). Ardchattan has more medieval history and artifacts, like the MacDougall Cross...More

If you are not a lover of ruins, don't expect a great experience. The "gardens" are virtually just, well, grounds of a house under construction. Considering you are asked to pay four pounds (gratuity box at the entrance) to see this, just as much as...More
