When I went there it was a great view overlooking the Missouri River and I-29 and Nebraska too and it's like the Washington Monument of the Midwest.

Sergeant Charles Floyd was an important member of the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery. Alas, he was the only death among the members--but he would have died if he had been in his bed August 20, 1804 rather than in what is today Sioux...More

We really enjoyed our visit. Well worth the trip. The spot is a little hard to find and DO NOT trust the maps link from Trip Advisor to work. That is 0/2 for sites in Sioux City.

My wife is a Lewis and Clark nut so while on a solo trip I stopped by. Nice monument,(his body was moved 3-4 times but is still there) and a nice view of the river and city.

Sergeant Floyd's Monument and it's history is a major part of Sioux city's afflication with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. This is an outdoor monument that you can easily drive to.
