The best time to see this attraction is the spring summer or fall. They have a video to see the history and for groups you can schedule a personal tour. There is a nice hotel nearby, camping, and a park with swans swimming in a pond.

We think that this is sometimes called the 8th wonder of the world it was started by a preist Father Doberstein and every stone was placed by hand and after he died it was continued by another preist it is one of Iowa's best attractions it's a must see destination.

We stopped here on a road trip across North Western Iowa. It was interesting and probably took a lot of time to build. We loved the little ice skating pond next to it. You could rent skates and they had music playing outside.

We drove from MSP to see this. It was a nice visit. The formations were amazing. We took less than an hour to visit this place.

Pretty amazing place. The time it must have taken design and build. Rocks and shells from all over the world. Wondered around taking photos for a couple hours. Glad we stopped.

The Grotto is one of the most beautiful places you can go and see. My family loved it, we had so much fun...we will try hard to go back next year. It's a must see! 😊

We visited the Grotto of the Redemption with our four year old granddaughter. We were all in awe of the beauty of the structure. Our granddaughter enjoyed exploring the stairs and rooms. I had visited as an older teenager and remember being very impressed by the tour and the story of the man who built the structure. If you are... More

We drove to West Bend to see the Grotto as we had many friends tell us how beautiful it was. We were not disappointed. A priest dedicated his life to making the grotto depicting the story of Christ and other Biblical scenes all out of natural gem stones! The gems are brilliant and what an artistic mind it took to... The grotto is beautiful. You find yourself imagining what it was like to construct the grotto over many, many years. You also get a sense of what inspired artists can create over time. Museum is good, and the grounds are beautiful, with swans in the small lake, and places to sit and contemplate.
