If you can just view 1 of Madison County bridges, this is is ;)
Since it was in the park, we just drove by it since we've been to the other bridges years ago. so easy to get to ;) we were tired after walking around john wayne's museums, his birth place, quilt museum, and mercantile store! to tired to get out again.

A beautiful park, especially in the fall
Constructed in 1870 by Eli Cox, this 79 foot long timber town lattice truss covered bridge is the second oldest of the six surviving in Madison County. Originally traversing the North River, in 1979 it was moved to its present location inside Winterset City Park. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. There is ample parking, and access to the park is paved. The fall foliage is breathtaking.

An Easy Find in Winterset City Park! Check it Out!
The Cutler-Donahoe Covered Bridge in Winterset City Park is an easy find if you may not be able to see other covered bridges in Madison County. This old bridge was moved to this location and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This is certainly worth your time to see this bridge and look back on some history of this area. Walk on it, through it, around it…. Enjoy it!

I loved the park where this bridge has been moved to! Bridge is tilting...yikes
This was our 3rd and final bridge for the day and I'm really happy we came to see it. The park was lovely, wooden sculpture creative and easy to park and walk around. Thanks for preserving it and making it part of the total experience.

This bridge wasn't as exciting to view...could have been that it was near the end of our tour BUT it is in a beautiful park that had an english hedge maze to explore as well as a tower to climb for some good photo options. All the bridges had different characteristics, and it was neat to see those differences.

The Cutler-Donahoe Bridge is situated at the Winterset City Park. The bridge dates from 1870 and originally crossed the North River near Bevington, IA. In 1970 the bridge was moved to the present location.

The renovated bridge looks very beautiful and seems to be in excellent condition. The surrounding park is very nice too.

There are six bridges total. All are nice and easy to find. We were there on a week day, and there were only a few visitors at each of the bridges. You will enjoy this one since it's right in town by the park and no gravel road to travel on.

It seems like a miniature copy of the bridges out of town. Good photo stop but nothing truly interesting. The park and Clark tower which are accessible from here are worth seeing.

Since this is in the book, "The 1,000 Places to See Before You Die in USA and Canada," we drove down from Des Moines even though it was out of our way to go back to Minneapolis. We are glad we did. The bridges were beautiful. However, the ones on the East Coast are much better preserved. And I was surprised with all the graffiti inside:( This one was very pretty and iconic. I also liked that it was located in a beautiful city park. However, it was weird because there was a large cut out in front of the bridge from the movie, "Bridges of Madison County." Definitely cheesy! But of course we did it! If you only have time to see one, I'd do this one! It also had a bathroom.

This covered bridge is located in the city park at the one way road to Clark Tower. There is a good size parking lot not far away you can park at and get out and walk to bridge

This bridge is one of the oldest and was built in 1870 and has actually been moved from it's original location & reassembled in the City Park. All the bridges are of the same design & mostly the same builders. Nicely placed in the Park & good to see it saved for posterity.
