We stopped by Alcove Springs during a Sunday road trip. It's a free attraction and one worth seeing! For me, the falls were not worth the visit but the history of the place was definitely interesting. The fact that so many people had taken the time to carve dates and names into the stones was amazing. I think to appreciate... More

Many years ago pioneers heading for Oregon stopped to rest and drink cool, clean spring water. This little hidden gem has seen little improvement since the great migration began over 100 years ago. You can see the Spring and imagine the joy people had when they drank that first sip of spring water. You can see the ruts left in... More

Nice place for a short or long hike with historical information. There are several different hikes of varying distances. Great fall picnic and hike..

We were lucky to see Alcove Springs after a period of rain. The several creeks were all flowing well and the cascading waterfall at the spring was absolutely beautiful and rather loud. I strongly recommend going before the drier part of the year, if possible. However, if it is drier the entire park opens up to much more hiking and... More

We enjoyed exploring the park trails and reading the history. Some of the details of the history, and location of the waterfall were tricky to determine from the posted signs, so we were glad some friends had additional information.

This is a nice out-of-the-way piece of nature. I like to stop by to look for birds. It gets a good selection of eastern forest birds at a location that is fairly far west for them.

Alcove Springs combines the beauty of natural spring reserve area with an interesting historical cite. The views are gorgeous and its easy to imagine being a pioneer trying to make your way across the rugged landscape.

Visited as part of a trip along the Oregon Trail. Lovely spot to visit. A bit off the beaten track but well worth a viewing. We had good weather which meant a chance to have a good walk round and enjoy the area. There was work on going but it did not detract from our visit. My only criticism would... More

It is a very nice historical site. Plenty of information signs. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, it is a little hike to the actual falls. This would be a very nice location for a picnic. Lots of photo opportunities. If it is a dry year or time of year the falls won't be flowing. But still a pretty place... More
