You can and should spend some time here. The little museum is worthy of a visit and the place is well kept. It’s amazing the age of the buildings that are still in use. A lot of history here.

We drove through Fort Dodge, and we saw a couple of Historical Landmarks, but other than looking at the buildings, there really wasnt anything to do. We didnt see any information available or any buildings we could actually look inside. It was just oK.

You can visit Ft Dodge fairly quickly as you drive thru the small town. There are a few historic buildings, but most of them are closed for viewing. Many of the buildings have been converted for use as a veteran's home. The scene here is...More

Enjoyed the museum and old town. We went in March so not everything was open but it was fun and interesting anyway.

I guess we arrived at the wrong time of year, or our expectations were much higher. Everything was closed and this was not mentioned on the internet. From what we saw, we would not go back even if it was open.

Part of the Trolley Tour we took. Expected more, Sam (13) and Dad were disappointed. Maybe it would be better driving there and walking the grounds.

This just made my heart happy...homes for retired veterans. The only complaint I have is that so many of the homes really need repair and upgrading but I love that they are helping veterans.

Visitors can take self-guided tours of the grounds during daylight hours. A small museum located in the library is open every day from 1 to 4.
