Just off hwy 75. My fiancé Sarah and I went to go check it out but it was closed. Still interesting though.

We visited during the off season so couldn't get in the buildings, but still worth the stop. All buildings were period correct restorations moved in from other locations. Each one had a sign with a good description of the building's use and reference to Laura's books. I especially liked the direct quotes from the "Litte House" books that were posted... More

I'm a history lover and this was so nice! My kids learned about early settlers and my husband and I enjoyed the educational trip. Don't pass thru the area without stopping!

The museum is a little ways down a country road connected to US 75, and it is well worth the visit. While most of the items there are reproductions or period appropriate pieces rather than the original Ingalls artifacts, seeing the homestead in its proper context gives you an appreciation for the books and for an earlier, simpler time. The... More

I am not sure what I expected but it was very well done. The one room school was very impressive. The Post Office was cute. The replica of the Ingles House was very precise & realistic. All exhibits were very well signed & told the story well. The gift shop lady was full of information. Very well stocked of books... More

This place is definitely worth visiting. Not the largest of sites, but there's plenty of history to experience, and as you would expect, some excellent exhibits. There are limited opening times at this time of year, but even if closed, you are still able to walk around the historic buildings. We called at a time the museum was closed, however... More

A step back in time (uncommercialized). Whether you have read or researched anything regarding Little House or not, just stepping on the ground at Little House on the Prairie will give you goosebumps!! Check it out, but be sure to go on the website to get hours of operation.

A reproduction of one of Laura Ingalls childhood homes, which LHOTP was based. It was about a 20 minute diversion from our path, but so glad we stopped. The main house is the Visitor center where we were greeted by a very nice informed woman who told us the history of the family, the home, & the local black physician/vetinarian. The... More

The people here are great. They are so kind, very informative about the Ingalls and out of their way helpful. We visited this summer and my kids loved it. The Post Office is great and the School House was amazing. The gift shop has lots of merchandise, and so many pieces of history relating to the Ingalls Family. If you're... More

Been there many times. Nice gift shop. The Little House is a reproduction of Laura's description from the book. It has ABSOLUTLY NOTHING to do with the TV series so don't go if that is what your thinking, BUT if you love history and Laura's story its a must see, it is very peaceful. They ask for a donation.
