Recently revisited this museum with my 4yo son and his preschool class. It has so many cool things to see! My son loved their Bugtown exhibit, so that is a must-see. They have lots of fossils, skeletons, and taxidermied animals to see and learn about....More

What a wonderful gem! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the museum which included viewing Comanche. Parking could be an issue during the academic year but a mid summer visit on a Sunday worked out great, there is unrestricted parking just across the street on...More

learned a lot when I visited Dyche Hall...about Lewis Lindsay Dyche and his travels...he explored and cataloged and left a great legacy for future generations...kids and adults alike will learn from visiting Dyche Hall...it amazes me every time I step through the doors!

Preserved animals in created habitats gives the viewer a feel of being in the natural habitat. There are Specimen of animal bones from long ago. There are even a few live snakes. Wonderful museum!

It's amazing that a smallish, regional museum can have so many amazing things. So many of these things were a hallmark of my childhood, and now they are a hallmark of my son's childhood. The diorama is dope. If you're into fossils, particularly smilodons, this...More

I was told while visiting the campus at Kansas to visit the natural history museum at Dyche Hall. The museum is really nice and had 4 levels to roam. The story of Comanche would have been worth the visit alone but overall the entire museum...More

This museum has a great overview of Kansas and the plains states biodiversity and wildlife, past and present. The Mosasaur skeleton in the vestibule that is set up to be chasing a large fish is really neat to see. This is a great place for...More

My memories of getting in out of the cold wind at the top of Mt. Oread while an undergrad J student in 1973, prompted my return visit to see Commanche, the U.S. survivor horse of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. It was just as...More

As Natural History Museums go, this is a pretty good one. The displays cover everything from prehistoric to modern and are well presented and informative. We wished we had our grandson with us. In some ways, this may be more enjoyable for younger children versus...More

Lots of fun stuff here but my favorite is the beehive inside. There's a tube that goes outside and the bees go through it to go find their pollen.

Totally take them there! While they may not stand and read each exhibit, at least they will see cool animals and bones and real live snakes! Maybe you won't stay as long but the museum is pretty kid-friendly. When I was... More
