The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is well worth the short detour from I-35 as you travel through Kansas. With more than 10,000 acres of prairie grass lands and 40 miles of trails, you can experience what it might have been like to be a wealthy...More

Wonderful views of the tall grass prairie, old homes, barns. History all over the place. You can imagine you are out on the prairie listening to the wind whistle by.

We just recently started visiting the Tallgrass Prairie. We have hiked the last two weekends. Trails are well marked. Met a herd of bison. Rangers at the visitors center are helpful. Clean bathrooms.

The prairies are wonderful, and the ranch buildings are a nice opportunity to learn about history and the way they used to live in the late XIX century.

One of my favorite places in Kansas. Just a great place to get out to hike, relax, and breathe in the fresh air. Take the bus tour, you won't be disappointed. The AC came in handy on one of the hottest days of the year....More

I visited in July and the grass was not tall. The park ranger stated to "visit in the fall when the grass is tall".
