We were enchanted with our guide, Morgan. She made the home come alive with stories of the inhabitants, John Brown and family, and the visitors. The whole site is lovely, with flower gardens, even this late in the year, and very old trees, one planted in the 1700's, before the house was built. A nice family library of books which... More

Liberty Hall Historic Site is located in old downtown Frankfort. It sits next to the Orlando Brown House and has a very storied past. This site is also open for Frankfort's "Haunted Tour," since Liberty Hall is supposedly haunted by the ghost of the "Grey Lady." It seems she was visiting some friends and relatives, who were having an outside... More

The expansive grounds are a feast for the eyes. Formal flower beds and the nearby Kentucky River add to the charm of this colonial treasure. Original furnishings and a resident ghost make this a most interesting place to visit. LIberty Hall and it's sister house, the Orlando Brown house are owned by the National Society of the Colonial Dames who... More

My husband took me for a walk around the gardens here when we had just started dating... it was then I fell in love and thought/hoped he would propose to me here... alas, he proposed elsewhere. However, this is a great venue for small outdoor weddings, photos, or romantic walks through the garden! I wish I had photos from our... More

We had toured the gardens on our previous visit to Frankfort, and returned for the house tour. The docent/guide was excellent, knowledgeable and articulate, and the tour was interesting and fun. We particularly liked seeing the library and hearing about the on-going job of cataloging the books.

Really loved this tour and the stories attached to this house that stayed in the family for generations. Tour includes two sites and the gardens. Hub of a family working hard to abolish slavery, a love story, and the death of several children in a town barely 600 people strong.
