We visited the fort on a weekday in early November 2016 and it was nice walking through the old pioneer cemetery and the log buildings, but we were disappointed that the museum was closed. We did go into the small church-like structure (on the grounds leading up to the fort) housing the tiny log cabin where Abraham Lincoln's parents were... More

The fort was waling distance from the Beaumont Inn. It was a restored fort with well informed and interesting re-creators as blacksmiths, gunsmiths, weavers, etc. They knew their history and enjoyed sharing it. Even the gift shop had some interesting KY made crafts

The fort is small in size but huge in interest. It is an extremely accurate portrayal of the fort as it is maybe the only fort that had written plans. Most historical forts were planned by drawings in the dirt. When this fort was planned and built a writer was there and actually wrote down the plans and the reasons... More

Grounds are kept in treffic shape. This gift shop is good and friendly staff. The highlight is a visit to the Mansion House musemun and the... More

The Pioneer Festival is always fun. There are lots of booths and crafts. Of course lots of food that isn't good for you but that is so good.

If you hvnt been yet, I highly recommend putting this gem on your to do list of places to visit. It really is like stepping back in time. All the employees are very knowledgeable about the history of the fort. My kids had a blast here. Very affordable admission prices for everything you get to do. Admission for adults is... More

This State Park sits in the middle of Harrodsburg, on a corner of a busy street. There is NO parking on the grounds, they have a small parking area across the street, so you have to walk over to the Park. You can drive to the Theatre part, but only to buy tickets. It does have the original log cabin... More

Unfortunately the Fort was closed when we visited, but the grounds were still open for us to explore. The grounds include a nice monument to the settlers who founded the first permanent settlement west of the Alleghenies, and the grounds also include a pioneer cemetery from centuries ago. Oddly enough, one of the sites we discovered: the grave of the... More

We had a great time with our the small kids. The staff was excellent and very entertaining for our children. Many went out of their way to five some way to keep them interested!
