The only park of its kind in the world, the Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man's relationship with the horse. Set on more than 1,200 acres in the heart of the Kentucky's famous Bluegrass region, the park is THE place to get close to horses! Featuring dozens of breeds of horse at work and at play, the park showcases the horse in daily equine presentations, horse drawn tours, horseback and pony rides, and an array of horse shows and special events throughout the year.

The park's International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the world's largest equestrian museum. Offering both the experienced horseman and novice an opportunity to explore the many facets of humanity's relationship with the horse, the museum is dedicated to all breeds and disciplines of horse and covers some 50-million years of equine history. State-of-the-art technology complements rare artifacts and scholarly research to present a unique, educational, museum experience for all ages.

The American Saddlebred Museum, the Showplace for Saddlebreds, celebrates Kentucky's first native breed of horse. The museum features interactive exhibits and a movie.

With the park's own tourist activities and the numerous additional horse shows that take place in the equine competition facilities throughout the year, there can be a fair amount of walking involved, depending on visitor interest level. Comfortable shoes and clothing is recommended, appropriate for Kentucky's seasonal weather. Dogs and other pets are permitted on park grounds, as long as they are on a leash or in an approved carrier, although they may not be permitted in some buildings.

Went the Sunday before Presidents Day and it was very quiet...not a lot going on but did get to see some horses and ended up making the most of it by Geo Caching.

Museum was exceptional. Filled with every type of horse information, artifact, place loaded with dioramas, horse tack, jockey uniforms, displays explaining different types of gaits, standards, history of the horse, how horses have helped the world, roles horses played in history. Barns where the Champions stay are beautiful. We saw two horses, they led one around for us and we... More

My family and I traveling towards Tennessee saw this place to visit on Trip Advisor in Lexington,Kentucky. Paid $12 per person to see a museum and walk around to see lots of other buildings closed. Went to the Big Barn to see and pet draft horses. Wasn't greeted by anyone but heard a voice of a lady in a monotone... More

A must see whether you own horses or not. It's just huge with room for over a thousand horses. Always some event going on. Visit Rolex Horse event.

Good family fun and the museum is very nice. Can't wait to take the kids back in the summer when there is more to see and do.

Big Mistake to go here in the winter. All is quiet. No shows going on. Most horses can't be seen. Many buildings under repair. AND YET...they charged 12.00 per person for admission. They claim that visiting the museums are worth that much....The International Horse Museum is first rate...but not worth that much! The one saving grace was an employee at... More

Kentucky Horse Park was beautiful had a ton of fun. We had two small children and they really enjoyed petting the horses that were all over and riding them too. I highly recommend this to anyone driving through Lexington, it was really fun for all ages

Much of the park was closed when we came in mid January. The museum was good. The kids were able to answer questions about the exhibits for a prize. We only saw a few horses and most of the barns were empty. We'll have to go back during peak season.
