The only park of its kind in the world, the Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man's relationship with the horse. Set on more than 1,200 acres in the heart of the Kentucky's famous Bluegrass region, the park is THE place to get close to horses! Featuring dozens of breeds of horse at work and at play, the park showcases the horse in daily equine presentations, horse drawn tours, horseback and pony rides, and an array of horse shows and special events throughout the year.

The park's International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the world's largest equestrian museum. Offering both the experienced horseman and novice an opportunity to explore the many facets of humanity's relationship with the horse, the museum is dedicated to all breeds and disciplines of horse and covers some 50-million years of equine history. State-of-the-art technology complements rare artifacts and scholarly research to present a unique, educational, museum experience for all ages.

The American Saddlebred Museum, the Showplace for Saddlebreds, celebrates Kentucky's first native breed of horse. The museum features interactive exhibits and a movie.

With the park's own tourist activities and the numerous additional horse shows that take place in the equine competition facilities throughout the year, there can be a fair amount of walking involved, depending on visitor interest level. Comfortable shoes and clothing is recommended, appropriate for Kentucky's seasonal weather. Dogs and other pets are permitted on park grounds, as long as they are on a leash or in an approved carrier, although they may not be permitted in some buildings.

We enjoyed our visit to the museum at the park. We were there on a chilly morning/afternoon and many things were not open but we enjoyed seeing the horses in the barns. The staff was very informative and friendly. I hope to return the next time in the area.

We had a private tour of the Kentucky horse farms, and the tour guide took us to the Kentucky Horse Park. It's a must see attraction in Lexington. Gave us a real sense of the history of the Horse in Kentucky.

Just got back from seeing the southern lights with our kids. We wouldn't usually go see Christmas lights this early but we're flying back to England in a couple of days so didn't want to miss our chance. Going so early definitely paid off - no queues, able to drive as slow as we liked and no crowds. The kids... More

We came during the off season and really had a great time. The museum is great and lots to do. The horses that are there are just beautiful and seeing some former winners of the Kentucky derby was great as well. If you love horses or just want to walk around a great place to do it at.

Although not serious horse lovers we thoroughly enjoyed walking through the facilities at the KY horse park. Beautiful grounds and very educational as well.

One of America's lesser known gems. Visit the museum to learn about equine history, the horse barn to see breeds you couldn't imagine exist, the interactive children's museum. Visit famous retired race horses. Take a trail ride and have lunch. Much more than this. The centerpiece for a long family weekend in Lexington. Go now!

Very nice grounds, quiet and not many people around. Large fishing pond and the campgrounds looked nice as well. Good photo ops and nice to see some horses. Would like to return one day and use the campground.
