This is a well preserved bit of Americana. No longer needed as an everyday necessity (early settlers used it), it is still very special to drive a modern vehicle over something designed for horses & wagons. I rode my steel horse across, who can say that?

The Colville Bridge is a frequent destination for locals and visitors. Locals under the age of 21 tend to frequent at night. The rest of us make our way out there during the day.

What a wonderful, out in the country, setting. You can drive on this bridge. Wasps nests were plentiful and the place was buzzing. They didn't mind our intrusion. Bridge was built about 1877 and renovated in 1997. Really enjoyed our quiet time and investigation of how the bridge was constructed.

It was fairly easy to find with the directions we had. I recommend Googling it and checking out different sites about it, though one of the reviews here did a good job telling the directions. I thought the most interesting thing about the bridge was that it is still used. I wasn't expecting that! The other two covered bridges I've... More

It took us a while to find this one, even with a GPS, ( the key is to put in Redmon Road, and then Colville Road) but when we did, I was excited. I think you would have to have a passion for these bridges to appreciate it, but if you do, then you need to check this one out.... More

One of only 13 covered bridges left in the commonwealth of Kentucky, the Colville bridge was built in 1877 in Bourbon County near Paris. It was extensively renovated after it was damaged by floods in 1997 and was recently reopened to traffic and is one of only a handful of covered bridges that can be driven through. Covered bridges were... More
