We drove to the museum, walked through the rain, got wet, and stood in front of closed doors. It was Tuesday 11 am and it was supposed to be open. Not even a notice why it is closed...

This old arsenal has seen war and peace, and now it is a museum. The grounds are beautiful, and the old brick building is well-preserved. Do not miss the old Indian mound with the cannons mounted on it!

Interesting little museum. Self guided walking tour of the inside of this early 1800's military arsenal building. Great curator, very knowledgeable. Free to visit which is nice. Great stop while walking the grounds of the State Capitol. A true gem probably overlooked by many.

We have been trying to go there for the past year, and finally we were able to see it. Every time we went it was closed. We loved it! We are history buffs and enjoyed the historical significance of it.

We just happened upon the museum as we walked the grounds of the capital building. The museum is free an is well done with signage on each exhibit. I knew nothing about what a powder magazine was and was surprised at all the thought put...More

An interesting civil war stop when touring Baton Rouge. This free exhibit was attended by a very friendly and helpful retired school teacher. We enjoyed our brief visit.

We stopped here while visiting the Louisiana Capitaol Park. The museum is small, but the docent we encountered was well-informed and responsive to our interest. It added to our enjoyment of Baton Rouge.
