Colomitos is a secluded beach and we had the chance to visit it recently. We arrived by sailboat, which made the getaway from the crowds even more special. Thanks to the low season, we had the beach entirely to ourselves, enhancing the tranquil and serene experience. The crystal-clear waters and stunning natural beauty of Colomitos made for an unforgettable day.
We’re especially looking forward to coming back and experiencing the remodeled restaurant on the cliff. It sounds like the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with a breathtaking view!

I walked most of the coastline from Las Caletas up to north of the Marina. I think Playa Colomitos was my favorite beach. It is small, beautiful, and accessible by hike (we went from Boca de Tomatlan to Las Animas on this day). Yes it was busy, but mainly from locals. There were boats that brought some people there as well. The small crowd did not detract from it's specialness for me. In the summer it was glorious and warm. There was a little vendor who sold us water. There is a reservation-only restaurant that looked neat. I would hike back here if I were in the area.

Breathtaking. Ver quick hike from Boca along the beach. Pristine waters in a beautiful cove. It can be your first and last stop or keep hiking south for a few more “off the beaten path” beaches. They’re all worth it but Colomitos is the most picturesque. Highly recommended for a day (or half) trip.

Awesome place to spend the day at the beach. However, many boat traffic in and out of the beach was water taxi or privates boats. I felt a little unsafe at one point swimming avoiding the boats coming at me. I went to the side of the beach to feel safe. Went also for a little hike around the trail.

Go explore on your own, you can follow the trail to this awesome area! We hiked from Boca to Ocean Grill, our hotel rep said we shouldn’t do it, but locals said it would be fine. Definitely a work out but a whole lot of fun, was 45 min & the little cove was super cute. Locals told us about Colomitos cove, about a 10min walk from the first cove, and 100% worth it. We went in September & there were NO vendors & barely anyone there. All the locals were amazingly kind & helpful with directions. We want to go back and bring our friends for another adventure!

The path to Colomitos is closed. The citizens along the path have had enough. They are sick of the noise and garbage left behind by disrespectful people.

We got to Playa Colomitos from Boca De Tomatlan by hiking! It took us about 45 minutes or so. Yes, you have to climb uphill a bit but the views climbing are nice and there are resting benches at certain areas if you need a rest. The hike is well worth it once you get here. It is a small beach with turquoise waters next to the Ocean Grill Restaurant. If you get here early you might be one of few people enjoying this beach like your very own private beach. I have to say water boats start to drop people off and it can get crowded after 11 am, but definitely work venturing over for a swim or to enjoy your stay for couple of hours. There is no restrooms or changing areas so be aware when coming. Come dressed in your suit! Beautiful, just beautiful!

Beach is beautiful, and I enjoyed the fact that it is somewhat hidden and not accessible by all. How I badly wanted to get in the water. But unfortunately, it was too crowded for me to feel safe. I would not have taken the chance to leave my bag unattended. Secondly, where would I swim? There were both big and small boats everywhere. The water was also a bit dirty. I had just finished my lunch at Ocean Grill and wanted to relax. But i just dipped my feet, and sat in the sand. Not as relaxing as I would have hoped. Maybe it was packed because of easter holiday. I would like to go back, when it is emptier.

Went down here with my wife and a friend after taking the bus to Boca de Tomatlan and deciding to try out the hiking path. We hadn’t done much research beforehand, so didn’t really know what to expect. The trail has a lot of steep climbs and many of the improvements (e.g., wooden hand rails and supports) are loose or fallen down and the footing is a bit iffy in spots. Not insurmountable if you’re in good shape and have good balance, but I would avoid the hike if there’s been bad weather recently or if you’re not sure footed. A water taxi here only costs 100 pesos round trip from Boca and can be a better option.
No facilities on the beach and it’s on the small side, but nice sand and protected from the surf by being in a cove. Would be a nice place to spend a relaxing few hours, but you’ll need to pack in your own food/drinks. There is a small restaurant down a path overlooking the bay; we were told that they serve in seatings (e.g., 1:00, 3:00, etc.) and will provide the water taxi service out there to their pier, which would also be a good way to get to the beach.
We wound up catching a water taxi back to Boca for 70 pesos rather than doing the hike again.

We took a guided hike through AirBnB Experiences. It's about a 30 minute walk over a rugged but safe trail to get to Colomitos, which is truly tiny, and very beautiful. Walking farther, for up to an hour more, there are 4 more beaches, all accessible only by walking or boat. We were glad we had a guide with us to help us find the way but you could do it on your own. There were lots of people doing the walk on the Wednesday that we visited. No bathroom facilities are available until the 5th beach, des Animas, where there are restaurants and facilities. If you are up to some climbing up and down, and challenging footing on parts of the trail, this is a wonderful way to spend a day and see beaches that are truly off the beaten track.
We saw where someone had attempted to close the trail with a piece of barbed wire and a couple of downed saplings. These has been moved out of the way. Our guides explained that the trail is on federal beach property, so it is legal for everyone to enjoy it. It seems that someone wanted to deter hikers, but so far the hikers have prevailed.

I was just wondering where did you get the private boat taxi? I would love to go there but I have a 18month old and the hiking sounds very dangerous
