A true national treasure restored to its original glory. The gardens were beautiful and very maintained. The home was truly a walk down history lane. Michael Benton, or home guide was excellent and knowledgeable. Unique bar and very hands on bartender Derrick had incredible selection. Dinner was wonderful This experience is a must when in Lousiana. Jane and Harold, suburban... More

Stopped by Houmas House November 19, 2016. Our tour guide was very informative. She included kids on the tour for demonstrations. Our son who is 11 enjoyed it. She did a great job of showing areas of the home. A lot of modern day added gardens, statues and water features. Great for photographers. Loved the kitchen. The orchids hanging in... More

We were there for the Thanksgiving Buffet and later toured the house. Incredible in every way. While waiting for our reservation (which was on time!) we wandered through the extensive well manicured gardens of well maintained exotic plants. The buffet was beyond belief and the later tour of the house was full of history and cultural facts. We've been to... More

Great histories treasure. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The house has had many coats of paint to cover up deferred maintenance. The wood railing around the upper veranda is unstable and should be replaced before a heavy person leans on it and crashes to the ground. Although I enjoyed the tour the cost is too high. $15.00 would... More

Houmas House Plantation is over 200 years old. Most of it is original, and has not been repaired with modern materials. I just checked the railings and they are strong, and yes, they probably have had 25 coats of paint over the last 200 years. More

We were recently invited here for a birthday dinner and were blown away by the beauty of this place. The grounds were BEAUTIFUL..just breathtaking. Amazingly there was quite a bit of Asian influence in the landscaping, which added a nice element. The food was pretty good at the cafe there. It was buffet style which was nice. It wasn't a... We booked this tour through our hotel. We were picked up at our hotel and traveled one hour to this location. Our tour guide Susan was very knowledgeable giving us a glimpse of life on a sugar plantation. You can view every room in the home. The gardens are beyond beautiful and perfectly manicured. To top off a great tour,... More

My daughter and friend and I had the supreme pleasure of being guided on our tour by Ms. Susan Harris Forman. The Houmas House is not simply a glimpse of an era gone by, it's a sumptuous, historical time-capsule full of just incredible artifacts, art and elegant beauty. It's a powerful experience to wander the halls and envision what life... More

Booked this tour through TripAdvisor, linked to Viator. I purchased tickets prior to ensure my date availability. I was contacted the day before for confirmation. A shuttle bus arrived at our hotel, picked up other guests from other hotels as well. We brought our toddler's car seat, allowed to store on shuttle during our tour. The drive was 45 mins... More

The gardens are extensive and a pleasure to relax in. The house tour was fascinating and the guide knowledgeable about the home, its many owners and furnishings and curios on display. We had a fine dinner in the Carriage House Restaurant.
