As a 10+ years transplant to New Orleans, all I ever heard about was Avery Island. Jefferson Island and the Rip Van Winkle Gardens puts Avery Island to shame. The home is beautiful and we had a fabulous tour. We spend a couple of hours...More

No photos allowed inside. Place is beautiful. Thought guide good but definitely on script. Thrilled with amount of natural light. Grounds beautiful. Herb garden a bit bare at moment. Peacocks loose. Something screeching. Pleasant stop on sunny day.Very interesting history. Built after civil war.

Great restaurant and great grounds. The peacocks were simply wonderful and kitties were so cute. I plan on coming back and staying the weekend in the future. I am from Colorado and never have I seen such beautiful gardens.

We really enjoyed our visit here and the tour of the plantation was very informative. The house is also well preserved. I would highly recommend venturing off the path to see this place. Well worth it.

I've never stayed at the cottages. However, I'm pretty certain if you contact the establishment, they could better answer you questions.
