Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the ruins of the Priory. They have free parking and also no entry fee. The site is definitely worth a visit, you can wander around the ruins, they also have a small bar, cafe, shop on site. The ruin is smaller than Tintern but more remote, quieter and free of charge.
We then took the trail up Hatterrall Ridge and did a circular route around the ridge (Offa’s Dyke) and back to the Priory (6 miles in total). It was signposted. The climb up was really steep, but not too long. The view from the ridge at over 600 Metres up was stunning, with beautiful purple heather abundantly growing at the top. Not many walkers up there just the odd wild horse.
A pretty tough walk on such a hot day, but the view was worth it.

Called in yesterday on our Clifton Petrol Heads classic car drive from Bristol . A wonderful spot for our morning coffe break , with a great shop and friendly staff too . Nothing was too much trouble , which old fashioned service was a delight to experience .
We are walking next month around Abergavenny , so hope we can spend more time there then .

It was a privilege to be able to stay in such an historic and stunningly beautiful place. The room was stunning. I cannot imagine why any normal human being would not fall in love with this place. The entire staff were friendly and helpful and we had a lovely stay in a special place.

Stunning hidden gem. Found it by chance. Beautiful location. Visited on a sunny day with clear blue skies and it was magical. Didn’t go in the restaurant but had a lovely ping at the bar downstairs. Free car park and entry to the Priory. Drive there was a kerfuffle at times - single lane road with not many passing places. Well worth the patience though.

Beautiful ruin of the Priory, set in a remote valley, with the backdrop of Offa’s Dyke.
With the sun shining through the old arches.
On a cold day we had a warming baked potato in the cafe.
This was a second visit. The first time we walked down from the Offa’s Dyke path, with stunning scenery. Second visit was with car andsketch-pad and a shorter walk. Something for everybody.

What a great historical pub and priory. Food was amazing and great service . Always love coming here.
We have been coming here for years camping in the field beside. Its very casual but very serene and coming from the other side of the world in Australia i wanted to spend my honeymoon here.
Amust to visit and the walks are amazing.

We stopped at Llanthony Prioriy for lunch before climbing up to Bal Bach. The staff were super friendly and the food was brilliant. I had the spicy bean goulash which was delicious and my wife had the lasagna which was equally as good.
One of our favourite spots and could highly recommend this for lunch or evening dinner.

A bit off the beaten track on a back road to Hay-on-Wye. There is free parking and free entry, and it is certainly worth the diversion to find it, The ruins are impressive and give you a real idea of what the priory must have been like at its peak. Probably not a wet weather activity but we were lucky with the weather!

Fantastic stay at this beautiful hotel. So good to be able to switch off and enjoy the surroundings, no internet, no WiFi and no TV! The staff were all welcoming and helpful. The food was amazing.
It was a complete treat to stay in this beautiful building in my favourite place.
Will be back.... for sure

What a stunning place. It’s worth a visit just to be able to stand there and see this amazing structure that is still mostly standing after all these years.
It’s a bit of a long drive down a country track but it’s ok.
If you love history and architecture then please visit.

How would I get to llantony priory by public transport is there a picturesque way there by bus
Written 21 February 2015
Two years ago there was a summer-only service from Hay-on-Wye, called the Offa's Dyke Flier. I found this in the online Herefordshire bus timetable. The outward and return route are both scenic. I don't know if the service will be running this year (as it's winter, can't check via current services).
