This site has an Acadian cabin and a creole plantation house. It had many live oaks. The most impressive was the Gabriel oak. The staff here was wonderful. I loved that they had bug spray for those who forgot. I learned something from everyone there....More

The tour guide is awesome with his Louisiana history. He was so gracious with his knowledge of the area and of this plantation. A very worthwhile stop while in St. Martinville or even to come back too!

Lots of history here but mostly through exhibits in the old Plantation Home and Arcadian Old Farmstead. Not much to touch or to do other than read and see. There is a good 12 minute video about the plantation. Great beginning to exploring Cajun Country...More

If you are traveling through the area please stop at the Longfellow Evangeline State historic site. It's beautiful and the ladies sure know their stuff! You will not be disappointed. Take a look back at how the Cajuns and Creoles lived! Part of the park...More

What's the difference between Acadians/Cajuns and Creoles? Visit this site and you will learn so much! The Creole house was packed with history as was the visitors' center. Acadian farmstead gave rich impression of what life was like, too. Wonderful trees throughout.

Rare example of a well preserved and presented acadian antebellum home. Great tour with very knowledgeable ranger. We learned so much and had a great time.
