    Stayed at the campground
We stayed at the campground. It was quiet at night but noisy during the day because of the airstream boats passing close by in the bayous. We had the visit of a black eagle and great heron. Showers at the facility were either cold or freezing … There is a laundry at the facility as well. It is close to garden district or French quarter (around 25 minutes)

    Camping gem
Hard to believe there's nature this close to a big city. There are about 100 level paved campsites with electric and water hookups. There's also a dump station on your way out. Children playgrounds and laundry are available. This is a fantastic alternative at low rates to the name brand campgrounds. If you want to visit Nola and save some money you can't do better than $50 for 4 nights.

    Campground needs repairs
We spent a week in the campground. The first night there, we had a storm. It knocked down several trees. No one ever came around to clean up the debris from the storm. There are several people living there. The park campground is in need of repairs. Some sites are sinking and very unleveled. It was pretty empty so I’m sure last minute reservations are easy. It’s about a 30 minute drive to New Orleans.

We rented a cabin for three nights. Loved the quietness & beauty of the place. Cabins are clean, but the fully furnished kitchen lacked essential supplies like any spoon larger than a teaspoon, a knife, spatula, dish towels, etc. All of that was easily obtained from a dollar store located close by. We were hoping to do a little fishing from the cabin, but as soon as we walked out onto the walkway, alligators swam in from every direction. We tried our best to fish, but the aggressiveness of the larger alligators made it impossible. It was very easy to tell that either past renters &/or tour guides were feeding them. I would be hesitant to bring young children here. Don’t know if we will return, certainly not to fish.

Very nice back-up site with water and electricity. FREE washer and dryer in the laundromat (never saw that before). Walking the campground is an activity by itself with wooden pathways through the bayou. Highly recommended. Only caveat: must be reserved months in advance... unless you're amazingly lucky

We found this place and wanted to go down catch crabs and fish from the floating cabins. We arrived and within 5 mins the alligators started coming up wanting food. It seems the people who stay here feed them. People mess up the best places. The cabins are excellent no complaints.

We camped there from Oct 23 - 25, 2022 at site # 87. Much of the park is badly in need of repair. There are rotten boards on wooden platforms. The toilet and shower doors wouldn't close. It was 80 degree weather but the pools were closed, The trails were impassable with no notice.

We stayed here over a long holiday weekend. Lots of campers, but it didn't feel overrun. Had the pool to ourselves for about an hour Monday morning. Campsites are spacious but surrounded by water in most sites. Louisiana had a lot of rain in the weeks before we went, but I wouldn't be surprised if it always held water, seeming as it's pretty much swamp land. With all that standing water, we had lots of bugs, especially at night, but nothing more than a Thermacell could handle. The bath houses were large and clean; the playgrounds were big, newish, and well-kept. The wave pool was closed (a bummer because that's why we picked this park...and it didn't say anything about it online or on the phone.) They did have a campers pool that was basic-it's seen better days but was clean. They also did not tell us at the gate that the pool was being cleaned Saturday and refilled Sunday, so we had to run for a quick dip before checking out. This park is a great place to bike and filled with creatures that get close enough to feel like the Nature Channel. Lots of birds of all kinds, one very brave (or foolish) armadillo, turtles, and alligators. Wish we could have found a nature center or park store, but ah well. Being an UBER away from New Orleans was also a perk. Spent two days roughing it in the woods and a day wandering the city. We will definitely be back.

It was fun quiet place. Only knew the golf tournament was in town by the size of their busses.

The confusing part was the 2 entrances. The one on Segnette (the google map takes us to) one was usually locked and the MAIN entrance is off drake street.

If you value your plumbing have your spouse watch the vehicle as you pull over the table. The main entrance has a hump TABLE going into it that a lot of people scrape their vehicles across. The other entrance does not have hump tables(that you scrape your vehicles). But it is locked.

Once you get in the birds and other animals are singing. Peaceful and pleasant place.

We stayed at this park’s campground for 6 days. It’s nice and quiet. You can tell that it’s well taken care of. There were several FEMA trailers there. We didn’t do much at the park. It was a close drive to New Orleans. There’s also shopping and restaurants close by.

The sites are generally large, however, the narrow 12 ft wide paved driveways (most of which are elevated), can make backing-in towables difficult. All sites have both a BBQ and fire pit. RV sites have water and electric (20, 30 & 50 amp). In my opinion, the nicest sites are those with elevated wood decks (# 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, 23, 24, 29, 33, 34, 39, 41, 42, 47, 48, 54, 58, 64, 81, 94) in addition to a picnic table that is attached to a concrete slab. The campground offers free internet, free laundry, and clean washrooms, however, there is no recycling for plastic, tin or glass. There is only one dump station so lines can be long. There is a wave pool ($) and free swimming pool. Other than the roads through the campground and park, there are no designated bike trails and only 3 very short (<.5 miles) walking trails. There is a small pond that is not suitable for swimming because of alligators. There are daily ranger-led activities. The campground is next door to a fish market and close to major grocery stores, fast food outlets, and a 20 minute drive from the free Algiers ferry to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Guests are provided a handout of directions to nearby points of interest, however some of the directions are inaccurate. The address for the Algiers ferry is 100 not 1 Morgan St, the post office is 6 not 4 traffic lights from the campground, and the closest Wal-Mart is not on LaPalco Blvd but on Manhattan Blvd.
