Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a natural wonder on 270 acres of shorefront in mid-coast Maine. Strolling through spectacular ornamental gardens and traversing miles of waterfront and woodland trails, visitors are delighted by the beautiful plantings, impressive stonework, waterfalls and fountains, and scenic views. It's no wonder the Gardens have been hailed as one of Maine's top three attractions. The Gardens are open 9-5 April 15 - October 31 (open until 6 pm in July and August). There is a cafe and gift shop on site. A visit at any time is a memorable experience.

The gardens were lovely and it was a nice way to spend a couple of hours. At first I thought just another garden, but it is really nice and there is something to see everywhere as you are walking.

This is a very nice place to leisurely walk around, several assorted gardens and paths to follow. It can be a hike up and down the hills. I would love to go back.

Got in easily past the roadwork by taking a slightly longer route from East Boothbay skirting Boothbay Harbor. The gardens are done with imagination and are first class. A few pieces of sculpture are scattered around. Lots of benches to rest on, and a shuttle...More

Gardens as beautiful as ever, but getting to and from is a traffic nightmare. You could easily have to wait 25 to 30 minutes to get through to road heading to the gardens. Very puzzling why they continue to do such major roadwork at this...More

It turned out to be quite a lot bigger than we first imagined. There are lots of different planted areas, lots of ponds of various descriptions (listen out for the frogs) and pathways through the woods to the riverside. There's a particularly well laid out...More

What a great place to see a huge variety of plants, trees & flowers - many labeled. Free parking. Bring your walking shoes. Free admittance for active duty military. Interesting butterfly exhibit. Brand new entrance building. Enjoy!

We are members at another botanical garden in VA, and found out (from a staff member here) that many gardens in the US have reciprocal agreements, so our admission was free. Even if you pay the full admission price, it is definitely worth it. I...More

I could not disagree more with out4agoodtime's review of Coastal Maine Botanical Garden. Good luck to him/her on trying to see the very diverse variety of plants and flowers "at a nursery". You could search nurseries for years and not find all that my family...More

This is just tons of flowers the can be found any place. Newer plantings are labeled, but older and overgrown beds had no labels as to what you are looking at. The new building is huge, and was obviously hugely expensive too. Just the quantity...More
