Short path to the rocky coast -- beautiful views. It's definitely worth a visit, BUT as with any trails in Maine, check yourself thoroughly for ticks! I had one crawling on my arm and luckily was able to flick it off it before it went...More

You can only view the lighthouse from a distance as it is on private property. The walk on the footpath and stairs to the rocky shore lead to beautiful views of Penobscot Bay. It's not a difficult walk for the average person, although we did...More

We were touring the coastal towns of Maine and were interested in seeing some of the lighthouses along the way. It happened to be pouring rain the day we visited Castine but we drove down to the tip of the peninsula to get a look...More

We've read The Fort by Bernard Cornwell several times so this was a must see. Quite steep--which we knew from the accounts--and amazing view at the base.

Any trip to Maine needs to include lighthouses. Beautiful location with easy access to the well maintained path. Lighthouse itself is privately owned but you can walk around.

My husband and I both went to Maine Maritime Academy and enjoyed walking the short foot path to Dyce's head. Sneakers are recommended but I have walked it with sandals. My husband brought our 7 month old son in a carrier during our visit for...More

I felt like I was intruding on the light house owners private property. There needs to be some signage for a clearer direction to the proper paths.

Go to Fort Madison instead (at the end of Perkins Street, just a footpath between two houses down to a lovely open space. From there you get a delightful view if sailboats out in the pretty harbor, & kids can run up & down the...More

A fine short stop if you're in the area. Quick access- easy in, easy out. Enjoyed the drive to get there just as much as the lighthouse.
