Not all that scenic but unique - maybe a bit overpriced

Run by the preservation society. NOT all that scenic although it is cute when you "get to punch your own ticket". Old historic cars...maybe interesting for the RR buff.

The 1-1/2 hour narrated train ride was truly a step back in time. The conductor was extremely knowledgabe and passionate. The rail car we rode in had a great background that was explained on a plaque that was highly visible. The ride, turn-around - and "Y" procedure makes one appreciate how hard rail travel really was in time past.

Very disappointed in this "scenic trip." This is not scenic. The only fun part was walking into the train and seeing how people used to travel in 1930. That was over in a minute or two, max. The whole "trip" was spent more time stopping than traveling anywhere. This is very deceiving by calling it scenic. Yeah, right...lol. Hardly!!

I am truly a Railroad fanatic and couldn't wait to take a "scenic ride". The "only" good point of the entire day for me was that I could climb up into the engine and actually blow the whistle,...I'm still a kid at heart! But the ride which is advertised as a "scenic ride"....well let's just say, I've done this twice...my... More

Very disappointed. We spent more time moving engines and turning around then actually moving. We saw some of Ellsworth like the high school and a few birds nests. Seats were comfortable and staff were very friendly.

If you want a couple of hours on a nicely restored train this is the trip for you! If you are lured by the word 'scenic' don't bother- it's really, really boring, excruciatingly slow, and takes two hours to cover about 5miles. Much down time spent switching directions Very expensive waste of two hours for two older women hoping to... More

I was expecting the more scenic and picturesque Maine that I've experienced over the past week through my travels. However, expectations weren't met. The trip doesn't take you far at all and more time is spent switching directions.

Visited with a group of friends and were expecting a bit more of a country scenic tour. The restored railroad cars were cool and staff very pleasant but after the ride, I feel this is something a family with kids would enjoy more than a group of adults.

We took an afternoon ride on a beautiful, breezy Sunday. We thought it well worth the price and look forward to seeing it expanded as the restoration project continues and more track is opened. We especially enjoyed that the train slowed down through the marsh are so we could spot Osprey, deer, Hawks, etc. I would suggest that they slow... More

The trip for myself and my family was not truly worth the money spent even though it was educational to a small degree. The trip covered approximately 5 miles in total distance. They spent a lot of time disconnecting the Engine and using switches change directions. The views were of the back of buildings and woods that were in the... More
