Kayaking on the lake was amazing and beautiful! We enjoyed the loons, eagles and even saw a moose splashing in the water!

A five hour drive from the Boston area and only two hours from Quebec City. Moosehead Lake is a little peace of paradise in northwestern Maine. You are surrounded by nature, the lake is the largest East of the Mississippi and the foliage is beautiful. Lots of fun restaurants, nature walks, cute little downtown in Greenville. We rented a post... More

Stayed at Caseys on Spencer Bay past Lily Bay State Park. Lake is 40 miles long so be aware of wind conditions at all times. Canada is visible from several high mountains surrounding the lake or do what we did, take a seaplane ride. Very tiny town looks easily crowded in the summer, active logging operations going on outside of... More

Gorgeous, magical lake set amidst trees and mountains. Sleepy surroundings, lovely mountains may be seen in the distance. Best if you have access to a boat to really get out on the water. Great hikes in the area.

Beautiful views of the Lake from Greenville, atop Mt. Kineo, from 'moose boat' tour and Lily Bay State Park.

Lots to see and do during Fly-In weekend. Huge craft fair in the downtown area as well as permanent shops to visit. Seaplane contests to watch and photograph.

Moosehead Lake is simply beautiful. At 40 miles long, it is a great lake for boating, swimming, or just enjoying the outdoors. At least in September, there are no crowds and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Local outfitters provide moose safaris. Local B&B's offer wonderful rooms with panoramic views. Local casual restaurants offer a range of local treats. One... More

The trip up here is totally worth it no matter how far you have to travel (we came from Texas). We had read several reviews/articles but the beauty and charm of this place has to be seen to believe and cannot be overstated.

My wife, grandson, and I went to the Moosehead Lake region of Maine to look for moose, see the area itself, and experience a more remote area of Maine. We stayed at the Greenville Inn (which was excellent) and hired a guide recommended by them. The guide was Chris Young of Young's Guide Service. Chris picked us up early on... More
