Ship traffic here runs the gamut from lobster boats to oil tankers and cruise lines; also look for the many photogenic lighthouses.

Although the weather was rainy the view is still very nice. The area is not completely touristy. Locals still conduct business at the port.

Lots of water you can look at from shore, from a resturant or from a boat. I suggest you take the 2-3 hr mail run that leaves from the ferry dock on Commerical St. The ferry has indoor and outdoor seating and stops at a...More

It was quite a chilly ride on the boat. It got a bit bumpy at times. We saw several lighthouses. The guide pointed out interesting things about the bay. Overall it was a good tour.

We walked the streets near Casco Bay, as well as, having dinner at DiMilo's floating restaurant. It has some amazing scenery.

Perhaps not the most scenic waterfront I've ever seen, there is a lot of natural beauty here mixed with gritty fishing industry and oil tankers. The promenade winds along the bay... nice for a stroll. The relative calm and quiet here makes it ideal for...More

Take the ferry (Casco Bay Lines), to any of the islands! There's a good restaurant on Peak's island w/ an outside terrace for eating. Walk, hike or bike ride....a perfect adventure on a nice summer day!

if you're interested in Maritime history, Portland Harbor Museum is a small charming spot to visit. Check out Schooner Fare's Portland Town on youtube for local music.
