Celebrating Maine's Role in American Art, the Farnsworth Art Museum offers a nationally recognized collection of works from many of America's greatest artists. With 20,000 square feet of gallery space and over 15,000 works in the collection, there is always something new on view at the Farnsworth. The museum has one of the largest collections of works by sculptor Louise Nevelson. Its Wyeth Center features works of Andrew, N.C. and Jamie Wyeth. The Farnsworth's library is also housed in its Rockland, ME, campus. Two historic buildings, the Farnsworth Homestead and the Olson House, and Julia's Gallery for Young Artists complete the museum complex.

Nicely Attractive

A nice place to visit and take in the local talent. Maine has a lot to offer and this is just a hint.

The main exhibit place will not open for a month, don't know when the other two will open. Should have been told before buying tickets that most of... More

Those of us fortunate enough to live in mid-coast Maine, and Rockland in particular, find that our popularity with friends and acquaintances goes way up during the summer months. Memorial Day is 5 days away. The number of cars with out of state plates is noticeably increasing. I think most natives have developed an attraction and restaurant "must see" list.... More

Once a year I am so fortunate to visit this amazing place. As a Wyeth Fan, I am never disappointed. Beautiful art and charming staff. Just go, you will be awestruck.

Worth visiting, but not overly impressive. Limited exhibition. Good representation of Maine and regional art.

We didn't have much time to spend here, and though we were rushed, I am so glad we toured all through the exhibits. I especially loved the Wyeth art which I had seen displayed in Delaware, but will always view it as many times as I get the chance. I think the folks who run this museum are doing a... More

One of the state's important cultural landmarks. Many artworks by the Wyeth family who spend lots of time nearby.

I had wanted to visit for years and finally had a chance in December, especially to study the Shaker exhibits. A great place to spend a cold afternoon!
