It's a great hike to the top of Mount Kineo. Best to take the more scenic Indian Trail hiking up and the more wooded Bridle Trail back down. Took about 2 hours total for the up and back down. Pack a lunch if you want...More

I have been here several times but wanted to bring some friends who haven't been to the area. As predicted, the foliage views from the fire tower were amazing. We had hikers of all abilities in our group and all did just fine - Up...More

Taking the ferry out to the island, choose one of the 2 trails to the top. We decided not to climb the fire tower as it looked a bit rickety – but the view on the climb up was just gorgeous!

Mt. Kineo is a 700 foot gem of a small mountain that rises out of Moosehead Lake to provide spectacular views as reward for the hike. It's accessible by taking the Kineo Shuttle from the dock at Rockwood. (Cash only) The boat drops you right...More

We hike Mt Kineo each August and love doing so. To reach it, you have to take a water taxi from Rockwood ($12 round trip) or paddle over on your own (just over a mile). The hike is either up the steeper Indian Trail (I...More

Ferry is $14 round trip. A little pricey but worth it. The hike up Indian trail is extremely difficult with several areas that you are scaling the rock on all fours. Beware if you have young kids. I found it to be a little dicey...More

The golf course on Mt. Kineo is unique. The park trails etc. have a good variety of difficulty. Awesome views! The snack bar in the club house is just that. Snacks and a few sandwiches. Pricey but good. When we were visiting, the young gal...More

Hello - Mt Kineo is only accessible by boat and believe it's for day use - I've never known anyone to camp on Kineo.
