My husband and I hired a canoe from Canoe Wild. It took us around 1.5 hours to canoe the 5 miles. The river was incredibly peaceful and some lovely scenery - didn't see another person the whole time. Didn't get to see the beavers but saw some ducks and some cows! The staff were really helpful, professional and friendly. A... More

Many thanks for taking the time to review us. Lovely to hear you had a peaceful paddle. Yes, the wildlife on the river can be elusive and you’re more likely to see more early in the morning or on an evening paddle. Yesterday one paddler leaving Fordwich saw four kingfishers in less than 30 minutes, so you never know! More

Great morning canoeing down River Stour traveling from Fordwich to Grove Ferry We had 21 guys kitted out in quality buoyancy aids and were given solid Canadian canoe's by friendly staff. After an intuitive briefing we set off downstream to Grove Ferry in sunny weather . It took just over 1.5 hours to complete and we were rehydrated with a... More

Thank you for your review and good to hear you appreciated the Old Town Canoes. Great to hear you enjoyed one of the great pubs along the way too. You can park at The George & Dragon at Fordwich if you’re booked there for a meal, or don’t forget the Fordwich Arms just round the corner, or park at Grove... More

A group of 10 of us went, aged from 8 to 70 something.. Canoed from ford which to Grove Ferry on a Sunday morning, finishing with a meal at the grove ferry pub. The distance was just enough, the river was quiet so we could power along or drift about, perfect.. The guys were great, picking us up from nethergong... More

Many thanks for your review Tiffany and great to hear you enjoyed the canoeing and pub lunch afterwards! The canoes seat 4, with 2 little ones on the middle seat. Once the kids are around 10-12 years old, depending on size, then you can only fit one on the middle seat to keep it stable on the water. We actually... More

We did a canoe trip from Fordwich to Upstreet, and returned on foot through the Stodmarsh Nature Reserve. This turned out to be an excellent combination, with lots of variety in landscape and wildlife. The first part of the river meanders through a lush forest and has crystal clear waters, full of large shoals of bream. As you enter the... More

I booked a hen do for 17 of us and Canoe Wild pulled out all the stops. They organised some amazing team games and made sure that the whole group had a good time, even those who were nervous of the water. Can't recommend them highly enough for any occasion! Excellent value for money and such a friendly, fun group... More
