We wanted to visit City Park in Hagerstown and were shocked at the wonderful art museum in the park. They had many paintings from European artists (Spain, Italy, France, etc.), several American paintings from the Hudson River School of painting, Tiffany glass, etc. All for a suggested donation of $5 (if I recall correctly). Thankful for the Singer family and... More

This was a first-time visit for my wife and me to the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. The Museum was serving as the venue for a traveling exhibition of the Japanese artist Hiroshige's Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido. We found the exhibit well-displayed in the museum's auditorium. The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is small but eclectic and... More

Nice cross section of art in a small museum. Currently, there is an interesting Japanese woodcut display. The building is located next to a lake in a park. Contributions are accepted but not in a pushy way. The folks at the front desk are friendly and helpful.

What a find! This museum is free, though they suggest a $5 donation, but it is worth it. They have different special exhibits and this week we saw Middle and High School art of all types. What talent these young people exhibit! There is also a special exhibit of Japanese paintings. The location is fantastic and would have been more... More

This is not a large museum but the touring exhibits were wonderful. The permanent collection is a bit of a hodge-podge, and the benefactors' artistic output (perhaps obligatory, he was not a major talent) does little to add to the quality of the art. Still, for a small town in western Maryland, Hagerstown is justly proud of this gem. Definitely... More

Although the museum itself is very small, it lends itself to a wonderful must-see stop while in Hagerstown. Its eclectic mix of paintings from the 1700s to present day, to Rodin Bronzes, to beautiful Tiffany silver, each room is a surprise. Most interesting to me was to learn about the artist and museum founder/s Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Singer,... More

Have been here several times and always enjoy the temporary exhibits that come as well as the Sunday music series.

Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is both quaint and beautiful, presenting a plethora of timeless artistic works, many of which may be little known to the viewer. Residing within the park of historic central Hagerstown, Maryland, it is an exquisite place to picnic on a lazy summer day after you have immersed yourself in the museum's impressive collection of... Washington County is blessed by this wonderful museum. We were there just last week and found the local photography and artists exhibits both running at the same time. This is the first we've visited in a while, but it's always a pleasure.

This is a nice small fine arts museum with quite a few interesting works of art. Displays range from medieval to the modern and contain some works of historical significants. You won't be disappointed.
