We were there in early April so it was not very crowded but a lot of the shops were closed. Hoping to go again later in warmer weather.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 April 2024

- Anaya D1 contributionDelicious foods and very fun rides! The rides were very fun and engaging. They had a lot of high quality, delicious foods that I had. They had many different themes in different areas around the boardwalk. There was also a magician that showed everyone his amazing trips. It was overall a fantastic experience. And most importantly, every food was amazing and was made perfectly done.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 October 2024

I’m not sure if anyone giving this Boardwalk a great review has ever been to a New Jersey Boardwalk because if they had I doubt they’d be raving about how great Ocean City’s is. Is there a lot of shops? Yes, but not really. You see there’s really only a handful of different shops they just keep repeating themselves all the way down the Boardwalk. It’s pretty dirty so it doesn’t seem like the shopkeepers or the town itself cares too much about keeping it clean. There’s signs all over about how face coverings due to COVID are required but I would say 80% of the people aren’t even wearing them and no one is enforcing it either. The amusement parks which are run by Jolly Roger and Trimpers are about as elaborate as what you’d find at a county fair but twice as expensive so nothing to really get that excited over. I’m writing my review from the standpoint of having experienced an incredible Boardwalk in places like Wildwood, New Jersey. But even if I didn’t know the difference between a great Boardwalk and a sub par one I don’t think I’d be too impressed by this one.

Went here three nights of our stay. Not the old boardwalk it was. Too many young people playing wireless speakers real loud. A lot of dirty people milling around. Most of the shops are overpriced junk you can get at a Sunsations. Wait for COVID-19 to end and maybe it will return to its former glory.

This is a review of the inlet parking. This was the first I've been back since they installed ticket kiosks in the parking lot. If you use the inlet parking they no longer give you a ticket as you enter then take your money as you leave. Now they take a picture of your license plate when you arrive and leave. You have to know to find a kiosk to get a ticket. That would be OK if there were one for every 3 or 4 cars but there seems to be only one near the end of every two rows which means you have to find one. I missed the signs so I paid at a kiosk before I left the lot (hoping I remembered when I arrived). At a time when the lot wasn't very busy, by the time I managed to pay there was a line behind me. I can't imagine what it would be like during the busy season. If you miss paying at a kiosk they will send you a bill with an added exorbitant fee. I think they are making a bundle from unsuspecting tourists.

I thoroughly enjoyed walking the OC Boardwalk and feeling some sense of normalcy in lieu of the current state the world is in, with the Covid 19 Pandemic. The atmosphere boomed with excitement from locals and visitors alike.
My husband and I decided to drive to MD from NJ to take a baecation. This was the Labor Day weekend.
There was plenty of sun and businesses were practicing social distancing. Masks were required and indoor eating was practiced at 25% capacity. We took our masks off for a few photo opts.
We plan on returning early tomorrow for a bike ride and some beach therapy.

I have been going to OCMD for 28 years and I will never go back after this past weekend. For the last few years things have been getting worse in Ocean city but last Friday I took my teenage daughter and a friend for a weekend getaway. Barely any families on the boardwalk, hundreds of loud, obnoxious people blaring their music, smoking weed, arguing, barely dressed people everywhere. I truly felt unsafe at 5 pm. The amount of trash all over the town and especially on the boardwalk was so sad. No way would I spend a family vacation there ever again.

There’s a lot going on on the boardwalk. My favorite time of day it was early in the morning where we picked up the start of the boardwalk near our hotel, the Hilton, and walked the 2.5 approximate miles to the very far end and back again. Crowds were minimal as things were not really open yet. Going out on the boardwalk in the afternoon and evening is a completely different experience. There’s so much going on between restaurants and shopping that it is an easy place to pass a few hours. And since it’s right on the beach, you have great access during the day if you choose to hang out on the beach.

Visited in late April, so the crowds weren't bad at all. I would imagine that during the summer, this place gets congested and overly busy. Definitely hit Dolle's Candyland. The taffy is good, but the chocolates are better. If you're looking for souvenirs and have some time, I recommend visiting a few places to scope out prices. The same item can cost double in some stores over others.

Every year we plan a 2-3 night stay in OC, MD. Unfortunately, the boardwalk and local area has shifted, less to be desired, not as clean as it used to be and very much over crowded especially since we always go mid-week to avoid weekend crowds. If you are the type of person that likes to plan where you eat, activities and events to attend, I would highly advise calling ahead for reservations, some places are closed even though there website and OC, MD website says they are open with limited capacity and scheduled events on the calender and advertised in the hotels are not 100% accurate. Fireworks and boardwalk events are canceled without notice, assuming its because over crowding and compliance issues with COVID. Even the popular take out restaurants and small restaurants with no outdoor seating are difficult to get through, phones lines are busy and/or put on hold just to place an order. Good Luck!

Been her many, many times over the years. There is something for everyone on this boardwalk from shops to arcades to food to entertainment to restaurants/bars and Ripley's and the Pier with rides and games. Oh and lets not forget the ocean and beach of course. Lots and lots to see and do.
The boardwalk goes on and on so be prepared to walk awhile or you can catch a tram for a small fee. If you get tired there are benches all along the boardwalk to sit and just people watch. And if you are an early riser you can always rent a 4 seater bike and ride up and down the boardwalk first thing in the morning which is a pleasant way to start the day.
Love this place and can't wait to go back. Highly recommended, but understand it can be a little pricey to stay and a little crowded especially on the holidays.

Unfortunately the Ocean City Boardwalk is not as I remembered it from 6 years ago. It has become quite trashy. People are loud and very rude. Young people actually pulling what looks like a pull suitcase but is actually a stereo blaring music out as they walk up and down the Boardwalk. Open containers of alcohol (which I'm not against unless you are visibly drunk and are spilling your beer all over people). Unfortunately, this is the last trip I will be making to Ocean City.

A lot will be open. Many open in March, especially for St. Patrick's day. So there should be quite a few open the first week of April.

Thanks in advance for your answers

So sorry. We only check this site when planning or after travel. We were only to in the OC once so we don't know January weather. Hope you had a nice time.

The boardwalk never closes. Many venues are open year round. In December there are many holiday events including great celebrations on New Years Eve and New Years day.

Are there rides on the boardwalk?
Written 21 August 2020
Yes. One pier has Jolly Rogers and another area near the arcades has Timbers Rides. They are two different companies.

If I'm looking for a hotel directly on the beach, what road do I look for?
Written 13 August 2020
Boardwalk ends at 33rd street so you can get oceanfront above that. For enjoyability, if you are going for a week I would look at a Real Estate company that does condo rentals and get something from 75th street to 140th street.
It’s safe, lots of nice restaurants and activities for kids up that end.
In evening stay away from boardwalk and Jolly Rodgers park.
