We had a full day with three children enjoying the museum. It is large enough to spend 3-4 hours there. Pack a lunch. There were a lot of hands on activities for our kids (4,6,19) to do. The adults had fun, too. They also have a lovely gift shop with Eastern Shore items. I would love to go back when... More

I was blown away by how much fun and interactive the maritime museum was. Many different buildings to explore and learn about the history in the area. Beautiful laid out, plenty of restrooms and very well maintained. A must when visiting St. Michaels.

Interesting and educational very well presented. Present is a real and active working wooden boat yard, building historically accurate wooden boats. Very nice gift shop with lots of ideas. Sara the manager was very helpful.

Great museum. Excellent perspective of life on the Chesapeake. Demonstrations on woodworking relating to boat building. A building on recreation on the Chesapeake. Displays on oystering and crabbing. A building covering the building of steamships. Also a number of antique commercial fishing boats used on the Chesapeake. Worth spending several hours touring the exhibits.

I love the maritime exhibits and the lighthouse, albeit small. They also offer a harbor cruise, which I highly recommend, especially if you do not have young children.

Our first visit to St. Michaels and we were staying at an inn within walking distance of the museum, so we wandered over on a warm fall day. What a fascinating place--the lighthouse that originally had been cork-screwed into the Bay, in which the keepers lived a quiet and lonely life because it was too dangerous for families. The vintages... More
