Unique experience. Captain Wade is a living treasure of the Chesapeake. We spent 11 days in the area and this was the definite highlight of our trip. Captain Wade was humorous, fun and full of information about oystering, crabbing and fishing........historical and present day. Sailing on his boat was magical, a once in a lifetime experience that is slipping away.... More

A wonderful experience with an exceptional gentleman at the helm is how I would describe this 2 hour boat trip. No kidding, Capt Wade is going to educate you on the history of the ship that you are standing on, the waters that you are sailing in and the creatures that live in those waters. I would do this again... More

So, the idea of a late afternoon "cruise" was not on our agenda. Never thought of it... until it was suggested when we checked into our hotel. We were told to be at the dock by 5 o'clock. We arrived a few minutes early, only to find we were the only ones there. At five minutes of five, an elderly... More

We recently took a sunset cruise on the Rebecca Ruark with Captain Wade. It was the highlight of our 3-day vacation! He not only informed us of the history of the Skipjack, but of the oyster industry, and environmental impacts on the bay. My husband even helped raise the sails and was able to steer the boat. We highly recommend... More

Captain Wade is a great story teller but also an ocean of opinions and knowledge of the bay and life on the water. He is gracious and good natured and is willing to share in the duties to sail the Rebecca. If you have a question about the bay, working on the bay or history of bay seafood industry he... More

My wife and I visited the Maryland Eastern Shore in late September, after the end of the traditional tourist season. There are many skipjack tours on the Eastern Shore: we picked the Rebecca T. Ruark because it was one of the cheapest, one of the best-reviewed, and one that still operates in late September. We were unable to get in... More

Sailed on Saturday evening with a legend. We had done with trip 15 years ago with our daughters and it only gets better with each visit. Capt. Wade's stories are fascinating; he provides a wonderful overview of the history of his skipjack, the oyster industry, and the role of watermen in building the area. He also provides a compelling argument... More

I know it seems a little late to review an event from last September but we are headed back in a few weeks and this is the one segment of the trip we never want to miss. We travel to the Eastern Shore of Maryland every summer and have for years. We usually stay in Oxford or St. Michaels but... More

When we decided to plan a short vacation to Tilghman, we knew we wanted to get out on the water. This was a great choice! The dock was in a convenient location. The price was less than some of the other boats. We loved hearing the history of the boat and about the captain. Very family friendly, as well. My... More

Captain Wade will tell you how the other skipjack charters charge much more and you'll probably get crammed in with a crowd. He does this for the love of it. He makes a point of going around to everyone on the boat to make sure they're happy and engaged. He's entertaining and the real deal. His thick Eastern Shore accent... More
