It was getting dark and windy when we happened upon this beach. The beach is off Route 6 and has some historical significance. It is here where the Pilgrims, led by Captain Myles Standish, met the Nauset Tribe of Native Americans who resided here. There...More

First Encounter Beach is awesome!! At low tide, you can walk on the flats for miles. But, be careful, when the tide comes in - you need to get back to shore! The sun and the warm water on this Bayside Beach is the very...More

First Encounter Beach, located on Cape Cod Bay in the Town of Eastham, is a beautiful beach for a wedding. The beaches have soft white sand, the vegetation is a brilliant green and for an evening wedding -- Oh, those Sunsets. There is plenty of...More

My kids liked the beach as it was wavy and windy. There were 2 parasailings nearby which was interesting to look at as well. Great spot to stop in January and look into the ocean for sunset from the comfort of your car.

A great place to watch a Sunset. People gather every evening to stroll the beach and sit on the benches to watch a fantastic sunset. It is a beautiful setting on the cape.

My husband and I spent a lovely afternoon at the beach. We went for a nice long walk and then relaxed by flying kites. There are a ton of small crabs that hang out in groups when the tide goes out.

Had some time to kill yesterday afternoon (before pushing the clocks back) and realized we could catch sunset at First Encounter beach. Skies got pretty cloudy about 15 minutes before sunset and folks started to leave but we waited and were rewarded for doing so....More

I look forward to visiting this beach in the summer. It was sandy and it got deeper gradually. Really nice!

Being located on Cape Cod Bay in Eastham gives you some benefits: warm(ish) water, great expanse of tide pools to walk & play at low tide, swimming at higher tide times, pretty private places to sun & relax especially past the main parking lot. At...More

This is not a stunning beach. It is on the bay side of the cape but it is the first place where the Pilgrims and Native Americans first met one another. It. like Skaket Beach, is a great place to watch a sunset on the...More

To be sure, I'd wait until 5:30 unless it is a rainy day. I don't think anyone is there on those days but if so, you can always turn around and come back later in the day.
