There is enough parking nearby that you should not have to walk a very great distance to get onto the beach. It is a level beach (but this could change over the winter based on what kind of storms there are). It gets a bit crowded on weekends and holidays, but there usually is at least a little area to... You can't beat Katama beach for easy access and wide, sweeping expanses of sandy beach. There's no food or beverages offered for sale at the beach, so come with your own and you'll be happy. There is a good place on the way to the beach though: Katama General Store, which has almost anything you'd want from food, drinks and... More

South Beach has lovely, clean sand for relaxing and reading a book or visiting with friends and family. The water is lovely and refreshing after baking in the sun for a bit. We went on a warm sunny day, and while there were many other visitors, we had no problem finding a parking space and a lovely place to set... More

THis is easy to access by car or bicycle. It is a lovely spot for a walk or to read a book. THe Atlantic can be very refreshing too. Treat the beach with respect please!

A sharp drop off into the surf means there's little beach dune to water line. Crowded, bit the beach is beautiful. Need to watch little kids near the water.

Not being from the east coast I was so thrilled to experience a day at Katama or also called South Beach on Martha's Vineyard. The sand the water was amazing but you everyone just takes their trucks, beach cruisers, cars onto the sand where you camp out for the day. There is music, everyone playing simple beach games and just... More

Katama is a beautiful beach. It is in a very laid back area of the island and would make a perfect day trip for families. Lifeguards are on duty.

This beach was nice, but by the time I got there via bike from Edgartown, it was cold and foggy. The beach looked really clean and the people were friendly. Would go back when it's a bit warmer.

We went here during Memorial day weekend on an overcast day that was a little drizzly so we weren't going to swim. The sand was soft and it made for a nice walk, although I noticed that the surf looked rough if you were planning on swimming, so probably not good for families with young children. There was hardly anyone... More
