This street is full of local crafts and food. Locally owned businesses that care about the community and will help if you're searching for the perfect gift or just browsing and checking out the town. Metered parking on street is scarce so use the parking lot on Pleasant St across from the Cape Ann Museum (recommended).

Parked at one end and spend a few hours exploring down one side of the Main St and back the other side. Some really interesting quirky little shops with many surprises if you care to take the time to look. Spent a little more that planned but got some great gifts to take home.

Drove up from RI. Well worth it. Beautiful park to explore and very quaint downtown. Then took scenic route to Rockport.

Some great shops and novel merchandise. walked up and down and made several purchases. Incredible shoe store that brought me back to my youth where you were actually fitted by people who knew their business

This is a cute little seaside town with lots of charm. Main Street still has old buildings and has several options for shopping and eating. Parking is metered, not free.

A good looking, functional downtown, well set up for locals and visitors. Lacks the goofy quaintness of many tourist areas. Loved the Dogtown Bookshop. Loved the owner of café that is sort of Mediterranean/American, and the Mexican bar and grill. Liked having a CVS we could pop into for something. Very practical downtown. Easy to find everything in the whole... More

Gloucester is lucky because it has an actual downtown (not a mall!) that you can stroll around. Just go early because many of the wonderful shops close early.

While walking up and down Main Street I could imagine the days of yesterday. I mostly walked past old stores; vintage bakery and italian deli. The buildings were probably dated from the early 1900's. Nevertheless, I felt like I was back in time. Interesting.

Main Street is nice and has a good walking tour. You get a good feel for the town and area. I would recommend walking through the town hall for a glimpse of some wonderful murals.
