What are the best games in the arcade? Depends who you ask. My 10 year old enjoyed the infinite climbing wall (courtesy of prof. Wackenhammer himself), the Big Bertha ball throwing game, the Pop Corn machine, and another one of Prof. Wackenhammers games of blinking lights. And that one did not even give out any tickets! I, a wizened veteran... More

A retro arcade with games from your childhood (Pac-Man, Joust, Millipede), games from your parents' childhood (Gypsy Fortune Teller, Dome Hockey, Big Bertha) and -- utterly unique -- games invented by Prof. Wackenhammer himself from a fantasy steampunk childhood that never existed. Best of all was the historic carousel offering a whirlwind ride fun for grownups too. Truly one of... More

We've been annual visitors here for a few years and our kids always enjoy it. It's not cheap (50 bucks gets you 100 tokens and 6 carousel tickets, adults need tickets to ride with kids, most games are 2 tokens). Equipment is so-so, many games broken but enough work, and kids don't really care. Kids have fun, that's the point... More

Thoroughly enjoyed the nostalgic and innovative games. The "steam punk" vibe is a great combo. Between retro and invented machines (climbing wall with yodeling and Whack-a-mole with colored lights) and air and bubble hockey, Foosball, skee ball and pinball, there's tons of good old fashioned fun here. Outside the puppet show was quite entertaining, as well as the carousel for... More

Travelers young and not-so-young will enjoy the carousel. Good long ride, it runs fast, and the horses are in good shape. Fun machine in the arcade to make custom tags. Skee ball is great, and they have a Big Bertha game which is a rare one but a goodie. Worth some time away from the sand and surf to get... More

We've been coming to this arcade for many, many years and were so excited when the new owners took over a couple years back. They've injected love and creativity into the place. It's a real gem for kids and parents --the kids ask to go constantly. Not only do you get to play the games, but you can use the... More

David thank you so much for your kind words! Glad we are giving the impression we were trying for. We would always be happy to know any other kinds of entertainments or games you or your kids would like to see. Hope you're able to make it to a free Saturday night show or two. More

They charge for the parent to stand on the carousel with the child if the child isn't correct height. I bring my grandkids there often to the arcade as I work on main St so they visit me frequently when they come down in the summer. They wanted to ride the carousel and I had to pay for myself as... I'm sorry you were upset by our policy for adult riders with children under 36". We are doing our best to comply with Massachusetts safety law and the requirements of our insurance company and thank you for your understanding. I would invite you to bring your grandkids back for any of our free amusements in future, including the giant outdoor... More

I love the arcade so much! This place is the highlight of my summer on the cape because when it rains I always have a fun community-based place to hang out in. It's BEAUTIFULLY decorated. They have a carousel, and it's NOT just for kids! :D I felt like a tot again! To be fair, I'm still in high school.... More

The carousel is a nice attraction to visit when you bring your young kids with you to stroll Hyannis main street. There is a bounce house combination ticket - but the bounce house is just average. Be warned (and the signs say) that if an adult accompanies a child on the carousel (even to stand next to them) that adult... More

Nicole I wanted you to know we took your ideas to heart and I hope you get a chance to come back to Wackenhammer's this year to check it out. We continue to make improvements to our game selection (while continuing our emphasis on classic and novel games) and the interior conditions (front room has been repaired, repainted, and has... The tokens were 50 cents each (which I am ok with, they can't always be a quarter), but many of the kids games were two tokens and gave out 1 or 2 tickets for kids. It's a cute place, with a nice carousel, but I wish I had spent my money elsewhere

I'm terribly sorry you didn't get good value at Wackenhammer's. We have discovered that power outages plaguing Hyannis have been resetting our games in unfavorable ways. We're doing our best to reset but apparently we missed some. Hopefully you were able to enjoy some of our free games during your visit. If you have the chance to visit us again,... More
