Edith Wharton's home is an interesting place to visit in and of its-self, but if you are fortunate enough to be in the Berkshires during summer season and attend the Friday Night Jazz on the Porch series, with a little imagination, you will be transported back to a more tranquil and genteel time. Sustenance and libations are available to have... More

The grounds of Edith Wharton's estate are enchanting. The gardens are beautiful and the tour of the mansion is very interesting. In the summer, there are free jazz concerts on the weekends. This is not to be missed. The views are magnificent and you won't be disappointed!

After a day at Tanglewood, I walked the gardens and manor house of The Mount. The visit introduced me to an author I did not know. Edith Wharton's Ethan Frome sent chills through me. I similarly read Sarah Orne Jewett's Country of Pointed Firs after visiting her home in Berwick, Maine. Both worthy of an afternoon and a follow-up reading.

Have been visiting Edith Wharton's USA residence (early years) for last 20+ years. It has been a renovation struggle due to lack of funds. This place MUST be saved. Give generously

The Mount is a beautiful property and building. You can tour the home of Edith Wharton but may be disappointed if you are a purist as the furnishing are not to her period. (If you're a purist you must see Olana and Naumkeag.) But - the house is beautiful and the grounds are amazing. During the summer season they stage... More

This place has a history, firstly as a house designed and built by Edith Wharton, then as a family home; a school; a delapidated pile and finally a restored tribute to a bygone age. The guided tour of the house is informative about its design (no original furnishings but restored with decor and furnishings matching the original) and about Edith... More

A brochure for an outdoor sculpture display drew us here. We never expected to be so blown away by all the rest. The gardens are beautiful, not too "straight line" and super-colorful on a late autumn day. We enjoyed walking to the beaver pond and taking other short walks in the woods. Having visited Lenox for decades, I don't know... More

Toured the Mount on a semi-drizzly day in autumn. Found the tour guide and tour to be most informative. Very nicely re-created period house. The gardens, though, are the highlight. Spectacular, even on a chilly, overcast day. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour.

We had not been to The Mount and saw there was a ghost tour. What better way to spend Halloween! The ghost tour was fantastic. Lots of fun, great stories, and you got to tour the property. However, after taking this tour we will definitely be back for a nice daylight tour. The house and grounds are fantastic,
