We see the Pioneer Valley Ballet's Nutcracker here every year, as well as a spring ballet and at least a few other community shows. Since it was renovated a few years back, it is just that much more special. The theater is a walk back in time and filled with history. Donated to the city of Northampton in the early... More

We saw a very good show. Its nice that they are keeping this very old place up. It reminds me of the old western theaters.

The Academy shows a wide variety of events throughout the year and we attend many, especially music and theater. Gorgeously restored and intimate, it is a great venue for live performance. They even serve fresh popped popcorn!

I have been to several theater performances, dance recitals, and even the First Night Circus at the Academy, and it is a terrific venue. There are very few (if any) bad seats, performances are reasonably priced, the popcorn is yummy, and if you get a chance to take the historic tour of the place, it's well worth the time :)

The Academy of Music just celebrated its 150 year anniversary. It is the oldest municipality-owned theatre int he country. First class live theatre, music concerts of all kinds, a film festival and even national renowned comedians perform there.

I have seen many performances at the Academy of Music Theatre and have always had a good time, good view (regardless of the seat), and good performances. A really nice place to see a local show. The staff is always helpful and efficient.

Built as an opera house originally by a local opera-lover, the Academy of Music has been many things over the years-- including almost closed. So glad it isn't! The inside has been painfully restored and the gilded moldings, red velvet curtains, and wooden floors give it that authentic Victorian feel. I first started visiting the Academy in the 70's when... An iconic theatre in the heart of the town, it has a cross section of shows...so be sure and keep an eye to the website to know what's coming.
