This place always has some neat exhibits, and often stuff related to children's books. Not everything is PG, but it is a neat place to expose kids to some art without going to a museum. I really enjoyed walking around with my 7-year-old daughter looking at the different art.

For many years the Michelson Galleries has offered a display of leading artists who illustrate books as well as major professional illustrators working within the field of fine art. The main difference between this and a museum is that EVERYTHING IS FOR SALE and one can begin building a small collection that will gradually grow into a visual interpretation of... More

This is a gallery that has interesting exhibits for the entire family. My pre teen kids really enjoyed this visit. It s a beautiful building...and there are very cool original illustrations of well known children's books. Lots of local artist's works are featured.

Art galleries can be the coldest places in any town or city. Michelson' s is a friendly place with staff who welcome you, show you what's new and make you feel like a guest. The diverse styles and subjects appeal to me. The space is marvelous and they even open evenings once a week.

What will you find in the gallery today? You never know! I have seen original works for sale by John Lennon here. I have changed upon a gallery show by Leonard Nimoy in the "vault" of this fascinating gallery. Original paintings, prints, graphic works of all styles and artists, some local, some international. A bright venue on a sunny day,... More

Great selection of some very fine artists. Many fine Baskins and Mosers. Had a great selection of Pinckney kid book watercolors and prints. Good selection of sculpture. Could do serious damage to my wallet if I had real money

We visit art galleries every chance we get. R. Michelson Gallery is a must see. An excellent variety of art mediums. A large selection of original art, some prints of course. What makes this different is two things: It is housed in a large, old bank complete with an art collection on display in the vault. Secondly, it is difficult... More

Occupying a converted bank, this gallery has a focus on children's book art. There were amazing examples from a wide variety of artists as well as newer works by emerging folks. The large vault even serves as an art space too. Great stuff, much of it for sale and a nice, laid back staff. No charge to browse either.

R. Michelson Galleries is THE go-to place to find artwork by emerging regional artists, photography by Leonard Nimoy, and original paintings by Dr. Seuss and many other notable children's book illustrators. It's a grand but welcoming space, which is a difficult balance to achieve. Highly recommended!
