The "Unknown" Monument

This is a rather large monument, that few people know about. If you are in Plymouth to see the rock and plantation, take a few minutes and check out this monument.

This impressive hunk of granite is often missed by the hundreds of thousands of visitors who descend upon Plymouth annually. Just 2 blocks up and 3 blocks over from Plymouth Rock Faith, (the lady atop the Statue) is well worth a visit. With Mayflower II in Mystic CT through 2018, a visit to the Forefathers Monument will be a highlight.... More

This statue is amazing, it is tucked away in a small unassuming park in a lazy neighborhood in Plymouth MA. the picture doesn't do it justice, the carving and details are great and it is huge! Much better visit than the very disappointing Plymouth Rock. It doesn't take a lot of time, it is free and worth a visit.

Excellent historical narrative provided in a tour by Leo Martin of the Jenney Museum - stop there first. Our country WAS founded by men and women whose focus was freedom of religion as well as freedom from tyranny. Don't miss this!! Excellent DVD documentary on this monument - Monumental featuring Kirk Cameron.

Biggest solid granite monument in USA. IT WAS a cold day and no one was around but we really enjoyed the grandeur of this monument. Free of course with plenty of parkings. But most of all, it is historical and great workmanship. Not to be missed and can be a quick stop of 5 mins or 15 minutes if you... More

If you're expecting more than a statue with some open space around it, you're expecting too much. Like most statues it has a few quotes, but nothing remarkable. It might be worth a 15-20 minute walk around.

This was my final visiting place in Plymouth before I had to leave today.... I'm at LaGuardia now and ran out of time to include this earlier today. This statue is so tall!! I don't know how tall but I would estimate around feet?????? It's simply beautiful for a piece of art this big.... my friend told me I had... More

Yes, this monument is a site on the Plymouth "visiting" map, but I rank it an "afterthought." It is one of the least memorable locations in Plymouth. While a statement of early 20th century interest in the "Founders Story" it really offers little new to interpretation or insight into parts of the story. I am writing a review to help... More

We were staying in Plymouth and this was part of our home made walking tour. A sunny Sunday morning....and no-one at all at the monument. An eye catching monument - which emphasises the principles on which the USA is based. Memorable - not to be missed if you are in this area.
